Title: Berejiklian and her Bullet (Bullsh.t) Trains

Well it really must be the silly season

Gladys Berejiklian unveiled plans for Bullet Trains in NSW

This from a Premier who can't even deliver Light Rail in Sydney which still resembles a war zone

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Next she will be proposing a NSW Consulate to be built in Jerusalem to get a few Jewish votes!  ;)

It should be first things first. The Great Western Highway badly needs upgrading, it's a busy road yet is still narrow much of the way with old surfacing. Bathurst needs a bypass due to heavy traffic buildup taking far too long to get through the city

The road between Young and Temora is an atrocious rough bumpy old sealed road that only a complete resealing will fix

There are still many dirt roads that are a health hazard to rural folk from dust kicked up from sightseer and camper traffic. Towing caravans and campervans means double the dust. In busy areas, this health hazard is a constant threat to the elderly. The dirt roads need sealing - it is 2018!

Rural hospitals need more professional management and staff, they have the highest mortality rate in NSW

I'm wondering where the State Government's priorities lie

Yet they're delivering the metro on time, two major motorways, the second metro stage has commenced, etc. etc.

Just because a bunch of eastern suburbs SMH readers are complaining about the light rail (which they will end up using in droves) doesn't mean nothing is being delivered. I mean, they're not NSW Labor...

As for the trains - it's a good plan. Certainly at least as good as Daniel Andrews and his $50 billion outer ring metro announced just before the VIC election.

And I seem to remember some months back people where whinging because Gladys hadn't prioritised a high speed rail tunnel to Wollongong - which they're now planning.

One way to do that is to provide easy commuting options for people living in regional areas. When you can commute from Orange or Goulburn to Sydney in 60-90 minutes instead of 3-4 hours, people start moving to those areas, including professionals

It doesn't solve every town's issue, but the problem typically isn't that they don't have staff, it's that people don't want to work there.

Baron, do you think some of the current problems Sydney is encountering is that so much is being done in one go after a decade of infrastructure stagnation?

Doubt it - they are just spending money to get rid of it (the money) instead of putting it into something useful. Nobody wants or needs these light rails they are putting everywhere. And its putting ppl out of business.

Saying NOBODY  wants them is a bold statment.

I know families who've upsized by moving from Bondi to Maroubra solely due to the light rail link to the city.

You can't put in major infrastructure without some pain.

Quote:
An extra 95 weekly services will run on Sydney's inner west light rail line from next Monday as the state government considers buying more trams to help ease crowding in carriages and on station platforms during peak periods.

As someone who has been looking at property in the Eastern suburbs I can assure you that prices near the light rail are holding pretty well even in this market. Give it 6 months and these things will be packed.
