Egyptian actress Rania Youssef charged after wearing sheer dress that revealed her legs

An Egyptian film star has been charged with public obscenity after she attended the Cairo Film Festival wearing a sheer dress that revealed her legs, according to state media.

Rania Youssef wore a black beaded dress that was opaque at the top and sheer on the bottom half at the closing ceremony of the festival on Thursday, exposing what some commentators described as a swimsuit beneath it.

Her attire caused a storm of complaints accusing the 44-year-old of inciting immorality and promoting vice.

A complaint was made to the country's chief prosecutor by a group of lawyers, the Al-Ahram Gate website reported on Saturday.

Youssef will go to court on January 12 to face the charges.

Pictures of Youssef's dress divided social media, with some users calling her names and others defending her right to wear what she wants.

If this is true, then right wing conservatism had been hi-jacked by right wing nationalism.  If its about personal liberty, then they should allow for same sex marriages, anti bullying programs, and freedom to wear any clothing item, or have their religion.

Then its not just the right wing conservatism.  For years, decades, the left wing had been at the forefront of righting for woman and children's rights against oppressive regimes and religions around the world. 

Here in Australia, because of ongoing war overseas.  Some right wing conservative equates and accuses every man woman and child of Islamic faith to be evil.  Which is not true.  The left wing believe that each and every person should be judged on their own merits, in order to up on their own individual liberty.  However, the right wing conservatism mistook that for pandering to the Islamic fundamentalism.
