It’s one of the three worst bloodbaths in the Victorian Liberals’ history, causing worrying implications for next year’s federal election and the NSW election in March”.

They have in record numbers, at the same time, rejected the low road of fear and division.” Labor could win as many as 60 seats in the 88-seat parliament, 15 more seats than it had before Saturday’s election.

Probably Morrison should have sent his bus in vic to help boost votes  Maybe labor could have won more votes.

The good people of Victoria have elected labor for another four years, with an increase majority.  Well Done labor and Premier Andrews.   [smiley=beer.gif]   [smiley=beer.gif]   [smiley=beer.gif]

With compulsory voting, there are pretty simple choices when one assumes bionomial distribution of left, centre and right.
The bulk of the people are in the centre with a few percent to the left and right.
When parties offer policies to attract votes, the one that attracts the largest population (the centre) will win.
Yes, as you go centre, you lose more of the left/right original voting base.  But you give up a few to gain a lot more.

Hi Sir Crook,
what about the Zulus?

https://www.heraldsun.com.au/blogs/andrew-bolt/10-more-examples-of-the-african-gang-myth/news-story/0f375ba79dd284890ddbe91106f6e864

I have heard so many people - including a Melbourne academic last week - claim that Melbourne's African gang violence is just a media myth.

Here are 13 examples of that "myth" - bashings, carjackings and home invasions - all reported in just the past eight days.

Something quite extraordinary has hit Melbourne, thanks to our refugee program.

(Note: I've had Nigerian and South Africans point out that the label "African gangs" is unfair on many Africans, given that most offenders are actually Sudanese or Somali.)

One:

POLICE are hunting for up to seven thugs who threatened a man with a gun during a terrifying daylight carjacking.

The gang, of African appearance, preyed on the victim as he sat parked in his gold Holden Commodore Sedan in Packenham’s central shopping district about 2.40pm on Friday.

Read about the other 12 attacks in the link above.

Surprising but not at the same time.

Oppositions are normally expected to make ground but it is also not unusual for a strong performing government to be rewarded at the polls.

It's a remarkable result considering the appalling rates of serious crime:

Notice that Dan never mentioned crime in his victory speech?

All the crime rates are coming down with burglaries at their lowest level in a decade - it isn't all bad news and is mainly a policing issue. The government should not need to be hands on with the police force.

The police should be doing their job irrespective of government and I don't think that anyone in Victoria believed that Guy had a magic wand in this area. As we know with most Liberal governments they talk a good game but seldom get results and are often more likely to make any situation worse.

Let's try to understand this:

Bikie gangs have left Queensland & now reside here in Victoria.
Black gangs rule the streets.
Up to 200 rioted last Xmas in St Kilda.
The police did nothing & made no arrests.
There have been more riots since then.
We had a terrorist attack in Bourke street during the election campaign.

I think both parties promised to triple the size of Barwon prison.
The cops are doing a bit better as we speak.
During the election campaign there was saturation
advertising by Daniel to recruit more police on radio & TV.
Maybe that's how Daniel countered the Liberal message?

It's still a surprise to me that it wasn't an election issue.
