Title: Australia Day
Post by Aussie on Sep 25th, 2018 at 7:00pm
Brian Ross:

Quote:
We should consign the 26 January to the scrapheap as a national holiday - let NSW have it - as it it celebrates the arrival of the First Fleet.   Australia as a nation was established on 1 January 1901.  That is what we should be celebrating as Australia Day.   Most Australians know buggerall about their own history.  Tsk, tsk.

Absolutely.  26th January is 'Invasion Day.'  Australia became a nation on 1/1/1901.

Yes, that's right.

However, January 1st is already a public holiday.

Except of course the First Fleet arrived before that. Between 18-20 January. The 26th is merely when they went to Sydney Cove.

Sounds like something a homophobic racist would do, though.

Perhaps you can explain how having a separate holiday for other Australians is unifying?  ;)

Isn't that divisive? A form of separateness? Now what was that Afrikaaner word for it? It starts with A.

Or is that only when whitey wants separateness?
