Title: Global COOLING is all the rage Post by juliar on Sep 6th, 2018 at 11:15am
Shiver me timbers!! It is getting colder than a polar bears tootsies!!!!
No sunspots means no warmth. Gee won't the Mad Greeny Zombies chuck a mental!!! Earth's "Big Freeze" Looms As Sun Remains Devoid Of Sunspots For Most Of 2018 by Tyler Durden Fri, 08/31/2018 - 22:55 Scientists believe that Earth could experience a “big freeze” as the sun goes through what’s known as “solar minimum.” During this time, sunspots are minimal and the globe could be in for a wicked cold snap. Scientists are reporting that the sun has been free of sunspots for a total of 133 days this year, according to The Express UK. With only 241 days of 2018 passing, that means the sun has been blank for the majority of the year. Experts continue to warn that this is a sign that the solar minimum is on its way. “The sun is spotless again. For the 133rd day this year, the face of the sun is blank,” wrote the website Space Weather. “Solar minimum has returned, bringing extra cosmic rays, long-lasting holes in the sun’s atmosphere, and strangely pink auroras,” the website continued. The sun follows a cycle of roughly 11 years where it reaches a solar maximum and then a solar minimum. During a solar maximum, the sun gives off more heat and solar particles and is littered with sunspots. Less heat in a solar minimum is due to a decrease in the sun’s magnetic waves. Our sun was not expected to head into a solar minimum until around 2020, but it appears to be heading in that direction a little early which could prove to be bad news for warm weather lovers. But a prolonged solar minimum could mean a “mini ice age.” The last time there was a prolonged solar minimum, it did, in fact, lead to a mini ice-age which was scientifically known as the Maunder minimum. That little cold snap lasted for 70 years between the years 1645 and 1715. During this period, temperatures dropped globally by 1.3 degrees Celsius leading to shorter seasons and ultimately food shortages. “Low solar activity is known to have consequences on Earth’s weather and climate and it also is well correlated with an increase in cosmic rays that reach the upper part of the atmosphere. The blank sun is a sign that the next solar minimum is approaching and there will be an increasing number of spotless days over the next few years,” wrote a meteorological website called Vencore Weather. Records for the previous 70 years do not show so much ice. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4148890/One-Europe-s-longest-ri… During the Maunder Minimum, people were able to ice skate on the Thames River in London. During the Great Frost of 1683–84 the Thames completely froze for 2 months, with 11 inch thick in London. Solid ice extended for miles off the coasts of the southern North Sea (England, France and the Low Countries), causing severe problems for shipping and preventing the use of many harbours. This has been the coolest summer I can remember over my lifetime in Silicon Valley. In the south bay, its normally in the 90s this time of year, with several 100s. However, we have barely been making it into the low to mid 80s for the past month, sometimes not even out of the 70s, and September is projected to remain below normal. These corrupt morons are wanting to tax the temperature with absolutely no proven science whatsoever. TheAnswerIs42 css1971 Sat, 09/01/2018 - 10:16 Yes, there have been more than a few hundred thousand which have died. In the developed countries, this happens in the winter, when low or fixed income are faced with enormous energy bills due to reliance on "green sustainable" wind and solar. Their choice is to either eat or freeze. In places like Africa, there is no money made available for energy investment other than "green sustainable" wind and solar, even though there are plentiful deposits of coal. Because it is not possible to build a stable grid using "green sustainable" wind and solar, dung fires are still used for cooking and heating leading to increased deaths from indoor air pollution. Also included in the rising death toll is disease caused by lack of potable water and waste sanitation. The lack of a stable grid is already affecting places like Germany, which foolishly closed nuke and coal facilities in a delusional effort to appease the far left Greens. Australia and Canada have both recently seen changes in government due to their swivel eyed loon green energy policies. All of this while 10's of billions have been wasted on group think climate research instead of on the real problems. |

Until the 1970's, the rates of change in global temperature Vs solar activity followed each other closely. Since the 1970's this hasn't been the case:

Is that using Gavin Scmidt's admitted uncertainty of +/- 0.5C on the estimated temperature? Or NOOA's 0.01C on their anomaly of estimated temperature? |

Better start building more coal fired power stations then.... ;)
To keep us all warm of course.....!!!! Cause some of us know that CO2 has never in the history of the Earth correlated with Earth's temperature. baa, baa, baa.................. :D |

I consider myself to be a fence sitter when it comes to the Climate Change debate. I've recently questioned the influence of the sun on temerature as I wasn't seeing a reduction in global temperatures correlating to the drop in sunspot numbers. So I'd be interested in seeing the latest data showing that a drop in global temperatures has begun. |

two points. 1. Gavin Schmidt is Director of NASA GISS. He is the one saying that temperature estimations are +/- 0.5C. He then does some fantastically wonderful statistical stuff and voila it becomes +/-0.05C. "But think about what happens when we try and estimate the absolute global mean temperature for, say, 2016. The climatology for 1981-2010 is 287.4±0.5K, and the anomaly for 2016 is (from GISTEMP w.r.t. that baseline) 0.56±0.05ºC. So our estimate for the absolute value is (using the first rule shown above) is 287.96±0.502K, and then using the second, that reduces to 288.0±0.5K. The same approach for 2015 gives 287.8±0.5K, and for 2014 it is 287.7±0.5K. All of which appear to be the same within the uncertainty. Thus we lose the ability to judge which year was the warmest if we only look at the absolute numbers." http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2017/08/observations-reanalyses-and-the-elusive-absolute-global-mean-temperature/ 2. You don't see any error bars in that graph; do you? Seeing as the temperatures are estimations from completely different sources; None. The land temperature estimation has large areas where there are no weather stations. So they guestimate the result. The ocean temperature has also large areas where they don't have measurements. That is also a guestimate. And then they merge their guestimates. Gavin guesses his results are within +/-0.5C. NOAA guess their results are within +/-0.01C. And then of course they magically guesstimate the temperature for the two mediums, somehow, back to 1880; when there is a paucity of data. Sorry. It is just unbelievable. But I'll let you believe whatever you want. |
