Title: Real British Aboriginals had dark skin, curly hair
Post by Unforgiven on Feb 8th, 2018 at 11:58am
So are closet poms descended from fakers from Europe?

Are poms really Europeans who killed off the real British Abos.

Are there any real poms left?

The one excavated has a striking resemblance to denizen Bobby.

Some of the first modern settlers of Britain from 10,000 years ago had dark skin and curly hair, according to new analysis of a historic skeleton.

The "Cheddar Man" fossil was discovered in 1903 in a cave in the village of Cheddar in Somerset, southwest England. He is the oldest complete skeleton to have been discovered in Britain, and would have been part of the last wave of immigrants to populate the region after the ice age.

Today's white Britons can trace their roots back to descendants of these people, and it was initially believed that "Cheddar man" had fair hair and skin.

Now, after cutting-edge DNA analysis and facial reconstruction by a team of scientists from the Natural History Museum and University College London, it is believed he had blue eyes, "dark brown to black skin" and "dark curly hair."...

How can you tell the skin and hair type from a skeleton muppet?

Drill into the skull and extract DNA from bone powder, I guess.

You do know that people have been in Briton for almost a million years muppet. A 10,000 year old skeleton isn't a early settler.

So you can get hair type and skin colour from the powder from a 10,000 year old skeleton??? ;D ;D ;D ;D What a load of leftist inspired rubbish. When CNN was mentioned it lost my interest.

Yes.

Nothing to do with left or right.

It's DNA.

Partially correct, the mutations in DNA occurred as a result of favouring darker skin in higher UV areas when we lost our body hair.

SO yes its a response to UV, but the genetic determinants are there

If it was only to do with UV, people would rangee from Negro to albino in this country year round

Additionally, the skull is very well preserved from being in a cave and we have the techniques to multiply DNA

Drill into the skull and extract DNA from bone powder, I guess.

So you can get hair type and skin colour from the powder from a 10,000 year old skeleton??? ;D ;D ;D ;D What a load of leftist inspired rubbish. When CNN was mentioned it lost my interest.

You can get an idea of it yes. Thats what genetics is about.

;D ;D ;D ;D Skin colour is a response to UV. It has nothing to do with genetics.

Partially correct, the mutations in DNA occurred as a result of favouring darker skin in higher UV areas when we lost our body hair.

SO yes its a response to UV, but the genetic determinants are there

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanin#Evolutionary_origins

If it was only to do with UV, people would rangee from Negro to albino in this country year round

So being black is genetic then?

In terms of melanin production, its genetic.

So black people and white people have different genes concerning skin colour?

Different alleles.

Thanks for clearing that up. people have been arguing me for years on that subject.

What do you mean.

so white people have a variant of a common gene between white and black people. So they have different genes?

No its the same gene, just variants of it. IN exactly the same way eye colour or hair colour is different.

but it differs?

It won't be the whole gene thats different, it might just be one base out of 10,000 in the entire code.

Or in some cases its not even the gene thats different.

IN people with blue eyes theres a mutation in a protein ligase gene that shuts off one of the eye colour genes that produces blue eyes.

Another example would be breast cancer.

Everyone has the breast cancer gene (its a normal gene slowing down cell division), but only some people have the mutation that sows the genes action down

Being brown helps you absorb heat and vitamin d. But pale skin is a reaction to less vitamin  so in 50,000 years eskimos will probably turn white due to low vitamin d. It a chemical reaction that isn't controllable.

IN actual fact in regards to Vit D they've found the opposite.

I believe the eskimo haven't been up north  long enough to turn white. It's happened to most other people who live with low uv. Maybe Europe and north America have different levels of uv ?

Perhaps, I believe light skin though is due to mutations in several different genes.

Nothing surprising about the early Brits having black people there. Perhaps Britain needed a team to send to the early Olympics and had to recruit internationally.

The blue eye gene has been remarkably successful for a recessive gene, appeared around 10,000 years ago in one individual, I believe.

What colour were the first waves?

edit: One skeleton is not indicative of a population. The dude found at Stonehenge(Amesbury Archer) was not a local as his teeth showed(isotopes in water he consumed growing up) but was a foreigner.

edit2: The last wave after the ice age that contributed to the gene pool of modern Europeans were the farmers who brought ME genes with them about 5000 years ago.

This has been theorized for years after finding the same DNA the Berbers have also is in populations in the UK, the same DNA the Basques have. After the landbridge collapsed and the British Isles became islands, this dark skinned population was cut off from the mainland and left alone for a long, long time until the first wave of illegal immigrants arrived.

On the article itself (and possibly the study itself), it is making a generalisation based on a sample size of one. That's unsound. We need to see more results before we can draw general conclusions.

I also mentioned the sample size a few comments up.

Poor reporting of science in the media is nothing new but what's interesting in this case is how in most of the articles I've read on Cheddar man, particularly on left wing websites is they're taking the same tone as Unforgiven, with an undercurrent of taunting saying, ha ha ha Brittons came from black people.

If there was a discovery that challenged the ancestral sensibilities of one of the protected species of minorities, do you think it would be reported with a subtle twist of a taunt by mainstream media?

I've had a think about that, there may be no advantage as far as being able to cope with the world, ie intelligence, but there are other advantages that can come into play, ie preference and ideas of beauty which it could be selected for. The reasons we select breeding partners is not limited to utility. There has to be some reason it has proliferated in 10,000 years despite being recessive, rather than being bred out.

My wife has brown eyes, well hazel. When I get poetic I tell her they are like pools of mud glistening in the moonlight. ;D
I've got blue eyes as have two of our three sons which is against the odds.

My half Nip GD has hazel eyes and thin curly hair, not Asian at all, her dad has blue eyes and straight hair. I have curly hair, ain't genetics weird.
