The current economic growth through more people buying is only possible with the continuing impoverishment of the many to feed that growth, since that growth is not in solid infrastructure and actual jobs.  Therefore it is a failed policy to view 'economic growth' in isolation and use it as the excuse and the yardstick to continue to pump into this (and other) nations more and more less productive in real terms people.

That kind of economic growth is poison to an economy, as is the continued introduction of semi-literate and unskilled people, who effectively contribute nothing towards solid growth.

Thus, in that context, immigration only feeds the greedy in the economy.

I don't believe that the majority are racist anywhere but in your mind and the minds of a few like non thinkers.

In the 90's these people were Asian Pauline was 100% against them and now they have been leading out education stats and becoming industry leaders for over a decade.

It seems that every decade people like Pauline and her followers have to make political ground out of hating someone.

Hanson was largely reacting to events in her state back in the 90s Asian shops with Asian workers with profits going back to Asia.  This was happening in Qld especially in tourist area on the Gold Coast and Brisbane.  Keating was pushing the Asianisation of Australia, claiming we were part of Asia etc, etc... Asian immigration was going up etc, etc... "Vietnamatta" was the drug centre of Australia, Asian Crime Squads were formed to deal with Asian Crime gangs. Hanson was addressing these things.

Now we have similar problems with the Muslim Communities and we have the added problem of terrorism.  We have even greater problems with what people refer to as "assimilation"...  once again Hanson is addressing a problem that the PC Brigade and the pathetic Progressive Left will ignore deny and not address.

The problem with Hanson's Party is that it is Hanson's Party.

As I've stated before currently it is populated by wannabes and the dregs of the original party so what little talent it had to start with have not returned to it yet.  And may never.

Hanson has the courage and determination, but not the ability to be a politician with widespread support.  Years ago I was told by Labor Supporters going in to vote that they would vote for her Party but not while she was its leader.

The party needs to be more professional and attract people who can better explain their beliefs and policies.  It needs a leader that can cut across the academic gap that Pauline will never be able to.  Someone who can argue a point and clearly show the dishonesty and falsehoods that are now accepted  by the mainstream media and go unchallenged.

What were the questions in the poll?

Certainly importing mass groups of Third Worlders enriches the society in many ways - what would we do without their third world standards and such?  Can't argue that it is a much more diversified society than it once was, though it certainly stops short of the absolute requirement for effective assimilation.

Bringing the Italians was fine - they were a wonderful people to have a war with, said one British general, and brought some interesting cuisine etc.  Many refugees from Greece, which had a very nasty civil war, and from battered European countries certainly brought some interesting ideas to the table.

Somewhere along the way it started to go wrong... I don't have much argument with the Asians as such - they are a hard working group in the main, though reclusive a bit much and I do have an issue with the organised crime groups, and I'm not totally convinced about the genuine academic merit of simple rote learning to the max..... also our school system has some drawbacks, such as 'Asian culture' strands etc.... we don't have an Aussie culture strand (mate)..... as for the Lebs, the Christians are pretty all right in the main, but the others... hmmmmm....  I've had Christian Leb neighbours and worked with some and they were westernised and civilised - my lawyer is a CL - but my dealing with Muslim Lebs have always been characterised by hot-headed, big-mouthed abuse on their part....

Immigration has its faults as the ONLY sustainer of 'economic growth for its own sake' - this being the ONLY thing our current economic mode has going for it - and in its current mix, which almost totally excludes the kind of people most likely to assimilate and brings in those who will remain an enclave within this society and will bring all their social evils with them, it is a clear failure.

I'm afraid that at the end of the day there is a limit to 'multi-culturalism' and a need to return to some form of social homegeneity. This nation simply cannot afford, with its limited population, to be the guinea pig for social moves to 'equalise' us with the poorest in the world.

Well, she's the only politician who has taken the Australian voters for all the money she can, by nominating to run in multiple Federal and State elections with absolutely no chance of winning but sufficient to make quite a tidy profit for herself.

Well, she's the only leader of a political party that keeps getting dud candidates into the Senate to see them turfed out again when they transgress the Constitution or get pissed off with her.

Well, she's the only leader of a political party that appears intent on screwing the Parliament by not declaring gifts and so on when she's received them from voters.

Well, she's the only politician who appears to hate Asians/Muslims/Immigrants and not care what damage she does to Australia or the individuals concerned.

Overall, she appeals to the lowest common denominator in Australian society unfortunately.  She spouts hatred towards anybody who doesn't fit her definition of an "Australian".  If they worship a different god, if they look different, if they act different, she dislikes them intensely and plays on the ignorant hatred of them to get votes.   Not a good look at all IMO.  Not a great look for Australian society.   Tsk, tsk.   ::)

AFP charges Sydney man for allegedly acting as economic agent for North Korea

The Australian Federal Police has charged a 59-year-old Sydney man for allegedly working as a black-market agent to sell missile components and coal for North Korea.

Authorities said it was the first time a person in Australia had been charged with brokering sales and discussing the supply of weapons of mass destruction.

  That is rather interesting. Not because it is wrong, but because it raises a very salient point, that many muslims, have no idea what they truly are, and what they are capable of, until circumstances arise that makes them choose a course of action.
Do they choose what is morally right by the standards of decency and morality as they have come to know it from living in  a secular society, or do they revert to lunatic automotons driven by slavish devotion to a death cult of insanity.

He is one of the most friendly peaceful people you'd ever meet. It's not the majority but that doesn't discount the minority. I've known plenty of people who have moved out of SW Sydney and they don't have many fond memories of their Lebanese interactions.

I believe it's a combination of reasons. A big cultural/religious issue with  Lebanese families is that the  boys grow up treated likes gods with too much freedom. The girls mostly stay at home. So many have poor discipline at home which follows them into society. Plus unemployment issues etc.

Errr, we have had multiple elections since Federation in 1900.   At every one, the political parties and candidates have presented the voters with a whole raft of policies, including such things as affirmative action, immigration, etc.   The voters have voted on that basis for the candidate of their choice and that candidate, if elected has voted who will lead their party in Parliament.  If they command more seats than anyone else, they become the Government.   Now, is there anything else about democracy downunder you need explained to you, Graps?   ::) ::)

No need to comment, Brian - those have never been make or break election issues - not the things I listed..... most are carried on by policy within departments and the people have no say and no recourse.. no path for their valour if they choose to object......
