Former chair of the AfD Frauke Petry has announced the formation of a new conservative party in Germany, the Blue Party.

She quit the AfD amid concern it had been captured by far right elements. Her announcement has seen quite a number of elected AfD politicians also announce they are leaving the party, presumably to join Petry's new party.

It remains to be seen whether this new party arouses the interest of the general public more than has the AfD party.

She will be greatly encouraged by what has been happening in Austria.

Perception is everything, and it looks like a personal vendetta just as Abbott had against Hanson.

Frauke being made to look like a victim of the political elite can only help her cause.
