Even as a kid I felt praying to some unseen father figure had to be some kind of joke.

My view hasn't changed over the years since.

Not necessarily. People genuinely pray for other people in difficult situations when there is nothing else they can do. If you have children - you would know that parents do a lot of praying for their kids knowing they have no control over some aspects of their life.

That's positive. When life gets really difficult at times - no matter how insincere you might feel, praying can help you get through it. To those who are cynical about the power of prayer, there is a logic to it also that has nothing to do with religion. A problem shared (even with an imaginary being) is a problem halved.

For the last few weeks I've been praying for something better than the job I was in.
By chance, my old Boss rang me up.
I hand in my resignation on Monday and move back to earning twice the amount and travelling the State.

When I pray.
I pray naked (don't know why - just do).
Kneel at my bed, hands clasped.
Speak softly in any manner I think is needed.
I don't stop praying until I have lost myself to the prayer itself.
I don't pray regularly or routinely.
I pray when I feel the need to.
I don't pray because of Christian or religious belief.
I pray because I just need to talk to myself for awhile and sort things out.
No-one else is listening anyway.

6 years of Celibacy and you would think I'd be praying 'real hard' for something other than another job!?  ::)

Good luck with that, Jason. Curiousely, Karnal does the same, only he's a Muslim, and most times his prayers are answered.  ::)

A lot of times, I already know the answer.
