President Trump revealed highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in a White House meeting last week, according to current and former U.S. officials, who said that Trump’s disclosures jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State.

The information Trump relayed had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government, officials said.

The partner had not given the United States permission to share the material with Russia, and officials said that Trump’s decision to do so risks cooperation from an ally that has access to the inner workings of the Islamic State. After Trump’s meeting, senior White House officials took steps to contain the damage, placing calls to the CIA and National Security Agency.

“This is code-word information,” said a U.S. official familiar with the matter, using terminology that refers to one of the highest classification levels used by American spy agencies. Trump “revealed more information to the Russian ambassador than we have shared with our own allies.”

and that is why there is such concern. Not that Trump disclosed the info accidentally but rather than he simply doesnt understand the entire structure and value of intelligence information. He once again demonstrates that he is intellectually and educationally well blow the standard a president needs to have to do the job well.

If it is true, it would reflect an unspeakable lapse in judgment and could have serious ramifications for US security and diplomacy. Trump, who complains bitterly about how others treat him, has once again with his own behavior - his own apparent inability to control himself - created yet another mess for himself and for the country.

In the process, he is showing Americans, once again,that he is utterly incompetent. The issue was always the identification of the sources based on the information Trump shared, not so much the information itself.  The President has broad authority on what information can be declassified so he didn't do anything illegal there.  Stupid maybe, but this is Trump after all.

And his National Security Adviser stated that Trump didn't know where the information came from (aka the source) but Trump revealed information about operations including the cities and locations etc which could be used to help track down their sources or even operatives in the field.

And now it has been revealed that it came from Israel.

This is what the greatest concern is.

Now the issue faced going forward is that allies may not be so forthcoming with sharing information with the US if the Trump Administration is so free with details that could identify them as the source.

But of course, people are making excuses, the official line is trying to pivot away and change the focus onto areas they can defend and the Trump Supporters are throwing their usual insults around.

It doesn't matter who is in charge, this sort of conduct and the leaks that accompany it are a real problem.

Naturally if they hadn't already, impeachment papers would have been drawn up for Clinton or any Democratic President over this, but we're supposed to just ignore it because it's Trump and Fake News?

Well, it seems that there was a sharing of information, unclassified information, but a sharing nevertheless.

Is this new?   

No, most probably not, but the security around this meeting was probably haphazard, or too loose at best, enabling a preventable feeding frenzy based on leaked information to happen.

Most probably in the past similar meetings took place, & similar information was passed freely, with purpose......the President having the full authority to declassify anything he wishes........& the world would never know about it because the security around those meetings was tight enough to keep whatever transpired within the meeting to never go anywhere other than the ears of that meeting's participants.

So now, will the world come to an end......will famine grip Europe......will the Middle East become a more dangerous place.......will the search for cures for infectious diseases come to a grinding halt.....will invasions from outer space by three eyed, green aliens become more likely?

I sincerely doubt it, but one thing I know for sure.......the next time similar meetings like this are planned, there will be a "dome of secrecy" unlike any other in place to avert all this silliness, & those responsible for this dome will be held highly accountable to the President.

She was charged with an electoral law which was made retrospectively for her.
