Title: Wild food Post by Jovial Monk on May 11th, 2017 at 2:58pm
Wild food tastes much better than farmed. Farmed goat is foul and stinks, even kid stinks. Feral goats might stink as animals but their meat does not stink, unlike farmed goat.
Farmed mushrooms don’t have much taste, wild pine mushrooms and native morels have a wonderful flavor! I bought some pine mushrooms this morning, the first of the season. Nice and small, will keep them whole (cut the stem off or it will burn) and make a pizze out of them. To be able to harvest and eat this wonderful wild bounty it is important that pesticide and herbicide use is not excessive and does not cause harm long after its period of intended use. Some wild harvest, like camels, are ecological pests and I delight in eating them. (Camel is delicious!) Kangaroo and emus might sometimes be in “plague numbers” but are not pests. Sustainability is key. |
