Title: Use your phone camera at a Kid's Game. Post by Aussie on May 7th, 2017 at 4:51pm
My DIL posted on FaceBook some footage taken on her phone/camera of my ten year old Grand-daughter playing (very well, too) basketball.
She was lampooned gently by some friends of hers about breaching some Basketball Association Rule outlawing such a terrible thing. So....I ask why? What do you reckon was the reason for said Rule?? >:( |

Oversensitive parents leading to draconian rules. I couldn't give a flying fruitbat if someone videos my child's sporting match.
But on the weekend I came as close as I've ever come in my adult life to getting into a biff when I asked someone not to smoke on the sidelines of a netball court. Was I being precious? |

People don't like the thought of pedophiles batting off over a video of their kids playing netball.

That is the alleged reason. And it is rubbish! What grubby creepy minded retard could possibly even think that a parent, filming their ten year old kid play basket ball, was doing so to later wank off. What sort of perverted minds do they have? |

It's the 'sharing it on the internet' bit that people get wound up over - see the opening post for example.

Why would sharing it on the internet wind anybody up? I'm curious. Is someone going to post fan mail? |

Garbage. It was shared within a FB group! These ten year olds are fully clothed.....nothing sexual about them. But....DIL was a tad rebuked for using her own bloody camera to film her own Daughter my Grand-daughter so Family and friends could see the kid play. That is a crap argument Effendi. |

Perhaps the images could be used at a Trump rally.
Is that it? |

It is not an argument Aussie. It is why they were rebuked. Apparently pedophiles have discovered facebook too. Also, kids are entitled to the same privacy standards as adults. I'm sure you would not appreciate some stranger sharing a video of your goofy attempts at sport with all their friends. |

Title: Re: Use your phone camera at a Kid's Game. Post by miketrees on May 7th, 2017 at 6:21pm There is a valid reason, albeit a longshot. If you are hiding from people, a photo can give away your location. If you have been working at a polling booth, you will have done the training,,, and apparently it happens. You cant make any record of some people being there. |

I have never seen you bitch about MSM sport coverage......or of filming at a beach. Why can't my DIL film her own daughter and show me on FaceBook? Why can't she do it just to show Grand-daughter later on? Far cough with the PC preciousness! |

There are pictures of my nieces in their swimsuits at a swim meet on my facebook feed.
Them and plenty of their peers. |

Are you kidding? Every time I turn up to a kid's party, a wedding, a work morning tea, a team-building day, video footage of me getting water bombed, dancing to Duran Duran, clapping someone's farewell or losing the egg and spoon race gets uploaded onto Facebook. I have no say in it, and every gesture is recorded for prosperity. The difference with the kids is they're used to it. If I could, I'd tell those arsehole friends and colleagues to get their mobiles out of my face, but what can you do? I just smile and say ah. |

Simply gauging your opinion on the practice. Personally I'm sensibly cautious but not paranoid. |

Did you ask the other parents permission before taking videos of their children and sharing with your strange friends? Quote:
Apparently you are allowed to tell them to get the phone out of your face. |

Yes, dear, as is my 4 year old nephew.
The difference is, he enjoys it. |

Good to see you speaking up for the kids, FD.
The non-tinted ones, anyway. |

Are you serious? I was recently filmed by Ch 7 and bunged on TV.....all without anyone asking me for permission. And worse.....I was not in a public place! It was a private meeting. Basketball games are in public places, and filming/photographing anything there is bloody legal. To try to stifle my DIL taking a film of her own daughter playing basketball in a public place is just insane. |

Were there any other children shown in the video?

No, she was playing basketball all by herself. Everyone does that Effendi. Basketball is not a Team sport, and there is no opposing Team, Effendi. |

I think I have solved the great mystery Aussie. Perhaps they were not objecting to her posting a video of her own daughter, but to her posting a video of other people's children. |

No, Effendi. That's just absurd. Basketball is a one person game with no opposing Team. You can't be serious. |

Also, it sounds like they were not even objecting to her taking video of other people's children (I'm assuming she was not using a hidden camera) but to her sharing it on social media. |

Not sure what's being discussed here - but using recording devices around kids is a no-no these days.... taking photos of my grand-kids** during a visit is my own business.
There needs to be a clear dividing line.... lest one form of abuse become another... ** one got to show me where the swans nest at the park.... both girls leapt on Grampa's arms at the same time - easy to carry and such trust in leaping from a platform to be caught... even The Boy was good today and not demanding on HIS dad... parents love it when there are two older people to keep an eye on the happy wanderers ... all very lovely and intelligent kids.... good looks and brains.... and strength... and no sign of any abuse there..... kids always deserve better than that in every way. You can see the difference between well-treated kids and badly-treated ones.... sadly.. and Luke has been told he has to keep up with his cousin who is now in first year high school and top of the class in maths and science.... and he is to be Grampa's apprentice on renovating a boat..... |
