Where are the UNHCR, where are the 'progressive' leftists [in Western nations],      who are uttering their contempt for such people and calling for the international community to condemn those in Libya who are facilitating and enabling this behaviour ?



And why hasn't Sarah Hanson-Young travelled to Libya on a fact finding mission, and to rebuke these bad men ?

Africans trying to reach Europe are being sold by their captors in "slave markets" in Libya, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) says.
Victims told IOM that after being detained by people smugglers or militia groups, they were taken to town squares or car parks to be sold.
Migrants with skills like painting or tiling would fetch higher prices, the head of the IOM in Libya told the BBC.
Libya has been in chaos since the 2011 Nato-backed ousting of Muammar Gaddafi.

A lot of people think slavery was an American thing, mainly due to TV and movie portrayals of the antebellum US and Caribbean. The trade is much older than the voyage of Columbus.

Just keeping it tidy before it got too long to merge because of tangents we go off on.

The last Muslim country to ban slavery did so in 2007. It still continues under the sanction of Islam despite this. Roughly 20% of people in the Islamic Republic of Muaritania are slaves.

The eradication of slavery in the Muslim world was almost entirely due to foreign intervention by Europeans and Americans.

Meanwhile Mothra describes Tunisia as a "Muslim country that has, for hundreds of years, been a model progressive nation". They were still selling slaves there last century.
