Bus driver charged with sexually assaulting special-needs student

The driver of a bus for students with special needs has been charged with sexually assaulting one of his teenage passengers in Sydney's south-west, police say.

Police will allege in court that the 51-year-old man sexually and indecently assaulted the schoolgirl when they were alone on the bus earlier this year.

Detectives from the State Crime Command's Child Abuse Squad launched an investigation into the bus driver after receiving a report that the girl had been assaulted.

On Monday night, detectives executed a search warrant at a house in Bass Hill and seized a bus that will be forensically examined.

The 51-year-old man was arrested at the house and taken to Bankstown Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated sexual assault, and two counts of aggravated indecent assault (victim under 16 and under authority).

The man was refused police bail, and is due to face Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday.

A taxi driver who fled to India a day after he raped a female passenger and indecently assaulted another in Perth has been jailed for five-and-a-half years.

The court was told, images taken from a CCTV camera inside the taxi showed Verma reaching back to the rear passenger seat, but Verma then covered the camera.

A short time later, Verma stopped the cab on the side of the road and pursued the teen after she tried to flee.
He then kissed the girl on the lips and neck, fondled her breasts and attempted to touch her vagina.

Crown prosecutor Rob Glenday said the girl became quite frightened in her position, but tried to humour Verma and engaged in some conversation with him, before he agreed to drive her home.

At some stage on the journey, the girl gave Verma her mobile phone number.

The girl returned to the car, this time sitting in the front seat.

However, Verma continued with the assault and continuously tried to place the girl's hand over his erect penis inside in pants.

A SYDNEY taxi driver has been found guilty of raping a drunk teenage girl on her way home from a night out with friends.

Md Kowsar Ali, a 23-year-old Bangladeshi, faces a maximum 14 years' jail after a NSW District Court jury ruled he raped his 18-year-old passenger on November 4 last year.

The jury of nine men and three women accepted the prosecution case that Ali had given inconsistent accounts of the incident and that the girl had not initiated the contact.

The court heard that semen found in the girl's vagina matched Ali's DNA.

-The lawyer for a taxi driver who sexually assaulted a young woman in his cab has told a court the attack would not have happened if the woman had sat in the back seat.

Taxi driver Omar Ibrahim Hassan, 42, was on Wednesday spared time in jail after a magistrate voiced concerns over the long delay between the attacks and charges being laid.
 
Hassan had been driving the woman, then 20, home from a Ringwood nightclub in the early hours of November 3, 2013.

In February, Magistrate Andrew Capell found Hassan guilty following a contested hearing. On Wednesday, Mr Capell handed down a six-month jail term, wholly suspended for 18 months.

A WODONGA taxi driver who indecently assaulted a woman when driving her home to Thurgoona recently has had a warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to attend court.

Police papers tendered in Albury Local Court yesterday outlined how Navdeep Singh covered the camera in his car with a tissue before touching the woman under her skirt, running his hand across her underwear.

An Indian taxi driver who attacked and raped a drunk and vulnerable 17-year-old schoolgirl he had been asked to look after and take home has been jailed for six years.

County Court judge Wendy Wilmoth said Nitin Rana, 30, who was found guilty by a jury of three counts of rape, had preyed on the teenager when she was in such an intoxicated state that she could not sit up straight in the taxi or even fasten her seatbelt.

Rana had been given $50 by a group of good Samaritans to take the girl home.

“The public is entitled to expect to be safe in taxis; parents should be able to trust that their teenage children will be safe in taxis,” Judge Wilmoth told Rana.

“This girl’s safety was entrusted to you when the people who helped her gave you the money for her fare, to take her safely home.

“Instead you violated that trust when you raped her.”

The teenager had been drinking vodka at a friend’s house before sharing a taxi with a male friend to a railway station in Melbourne’s east at about 1am on November 4 last year. Her friend continued home in the taxi after dropping her at the station, not realising she would be stranded.

AN Indian taxi driver has been charged with sexually assaulting a female passenger after picking her up in his cab from a Brisbane city bar early on Friday.

Police alleged the driver, instead of taking the drunk woman to her Fortitude Valley home, drove her to Wellington St, Kangaroo Point, lifted her on to the ground and attacked her.

Brisbane Magistrates' Court yesterday was told the woman, 27, struggled with the driver before escaping half-naked and called a friend to come to her assistance.

The man, 20, arrived in Australia from India in March and has worked as a Brisbane taxi driver since July, the court was told.

The man was charged with sexual assault, assault with intent to rape and deprivation of liberty.

"These are very serious charges on an intoxicated female, many of whom get cabs home after a night out," Magistrate Graham Lee said.

Police prosecutor Acting Senior Sergeant Rob Lamason strenuously opposed bail, telling the court there was CCTV footage showing the taxi ride and the man lying on top of the woman at the scene of the alleged offences.

Sen Sgt Lamason said the woman, 27, had been drinking with friends at the Down Under Bar in the city until 3am before hailing a taxi to take her home.

During the journey the woman, who had been affected by alcohol, asked the driver why he was taking her across the Story Bridge, away from her home, Sen Sgt Lamason said.

The officer said the woman claimed that the cab turned off at Kangaroo Point and the next thing she knew she was lying on her back on the ground, with her skirt around her knees and the driver on top of her, with his jeans pulled down.

The woman struggled to her feet and walked off, only then noticing that she did not have on her skirt, underwear or shoes, the court heard.

Sen Sgt Lamason said the man was a flight risk, as he had few ties to Australia.

The man, who is studying hospitality in Brisbane, was being financially supported by family in India, the court heard.

Defence lawyer Kyna Morice said the man would stop working as a cab driver and would contest the charges.

The man was released on bail, provided he surrender his passport and taxi licence, among other conditions.

TAXI driver who kissed his passenger was fined $1000 in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Lakhbir Singh, 34, was originally charged with indecent assault in relation to the April 19 incident.

This was amended to common assault just before Mr Singh entered a guilty plea.

An Uber driver has been charged with sexually assaulting a passenger during a trip home on Sydney's north shore.

The 30-year-old driver Yamur Sadiqi allegedly picked up a 26-year-old woman in West Pennant Hills at 11pm on Saturday.

During the drive, he allegedly pulled over in Carlingford and assaulted her in the passenger seat before taking her home.

Court documents state he allegedly had sexual intercourse without consent and assaulted the woman with an act of indecency.

The victim reported it to north shore police the next day.

On Tuesday morning, Mr Sadiqi was arrested at home on Acropolis Avenue in Rooty Hill.

Sydney, Sep 18 (IANS) A Bangladeshi student and part-time taxi driver has been convicted of raping an 18-year-old passenger and faces a maximum jail term of 14 years.

Muhammad Kowsar Ali, 23, who was studying accountancy and like many students from the subcontinent driving a taxi part-time, was convicted Wednesday by a jury of nine men and three women, of raping the teenager in the back seat of the taxi.

While Ali was acquitted of robbing the 18-year-old of $100, he was convicted of raping her and on two counts of indecently assaulting her.

Judge Peter Berman, who had lifted the order suppressing the victim's identity, was quoted as saying in the Sydney Morning Herald: "She should not be forced to hide away embarrassed as to what happened to her. She is entitled to hold her head up high and identify herself as a blameless victim of a sexual assault."

On Nov 4 last year, Ali picked up Jessica Loiterton, who was going home to suburban Oyster Bay, from outside a Darlinghurst hotel in central Sydney past midnight. She is said to have been in a drunken state and dozing off and on.

Ali, who dragged her in the back seat and raped her, was arrested within minutes of her distraught call to the emergency helpline when she escaped.

Ali will be sentenced Nov 21 and faces a maximum jail term of 14 years with a minimum non-parole period of seven years.

Expressing relief, Loiterton told reporters: "It's just a big relief for me at this time. It is a relief off my shoulders that this won't happen again to anyone. It was so hard. I just didn't want to look at him. It was very difficult to give evidence. It was hard to say it all again, to go back through it."

I always post my support for all these issues, with the proviso that I don;t really give a damn, since they are mostly trumped up ones:-

a)  Marriage 'Equality' - exists already since gays etc can choose to marry someone of the opposite sex same as everyone else - OK if the people agree, give it a bloody plebiscite and if the answer is NO will the gay community shut up for a change?  Not likely.....

b)  Gender equality - who ISN'T equal here?  Better fix your 'definitions' and check your figures and facts.  Giving preference to one group over another as a matter of policy and fudging figures on 'wages' to try to suggest that working the same percentage less means your chosen group should be paid the same are false and emphatically are NOT 'Equality'.  Similar to comments about 'superannuation gaps'... utter nonsense.

On “at least 10 occasions” between March 6 and April 3, Ahmed Ali, 51, would allegedly go and sit beside the girl, kissing her on the mouth, groping her breasts and grabbing her crotch. He is also accused of showing her pornography on a mobile phone and asking her if she liked it.

But Bankstown Local Court was told Ali’s most vile alleged assault came on April 3, when he is accused of removing the girl’s shirt, causing her pain by sucking on her breasts and putting his hands inside her underwear.

This makes me white hot with rage.
As bad as rape is, perpetrating it on a young child with a disability magnifies it by 1000. This guy has 6 kids, presumably one is a girl, similar age? This is what we need the death penalty for.
