Title: Palestinian Activist Denied Aus Visa
Post by Mr Hammer on Apr 8th, 2017 at 3:36pm

A Palestinian human rights campaigner has had his visa to enter Australia cancelled.

Bassem Tamimi, an outspoken activist and opponent of Israeli settlement in the West Bank, was scheduled to speak in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth this month.

However documents addressed to the 50-year-old and viewed by AAP dated April 6, show Mr Tamimi's visa to enter the country was revoked by federal authorities based on information indicating "a risk members of the public will react adversely to your presence ... regarding your views of the ongoing political tensions in the Middle East".

The visa was granted on April 4 and cancelled the next day under section 128 of the Migration Act.

Mr Timimi said he was disappointed to learn that he would not be able to visit.

"I feel that not only Palestine is occupied, the Zionists and their allies dominate the decision in all the world," he said from Jordan where he expected to board his flight to Australia.

"We are not fighting the Israeli occupation, we are fighting the colonisation everywhere. For that we must unify our struggles for humanity."

Organisers of Mr Tamimi's visit have described the move as an act of extreme censorship and have called on Immigration Minister Peter Dutton to reverse the visa cancellation.

"It is clear that this decision is motivated to silence pro-Palestinian views rather than avoiding politically controversial views," speaking tour activist Vashti Kenway said.

An Australian Friends of Palestine Association event post said Mr Tamimi's Sydney event was scheduled for April 11 at Sydney University.

A change.org petition against the government's ruling was created on Friday night.

Mr Tamimi was convicted by an Israeli military court in 2011 for "sending people to throw stones and holding a march without a permit".

His lawyers denied the charges saying he believed in "passive resistance".

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection have been contacted for comment.

This is just the federal government kissing Trumps ass.

Why would we have our own opinion when we can just follow the lead of the US ?

Passive aggressive support of tyranny.

I for one would be happy to let this activist speak here, as long as all his meetings were public forum.

Ahhj
But its not acceptable to the CULT to have anyone, let alone a female and
Even worse a female who shrugged of the shackes of primitive brutality, to speak against the CULT.

The CULT is so fragile that if people were to actually start to think and examine the CULT for what it is
It would crumble like the bones of their pedophile, sociopath, mentally ill, insane prophet.

This is a good thing.

think of your country like a nightclub, you need to have a bouncer on the door who only lets in people who are going to "raise the vibration".

happy, aspirational, positive and fun people get thru the door and the bouncer ushers them in.

but negative and toxic people who will ruin the fun vibe...
they just have to stand in the street and get all butt hurt and cry...thats your punishment for being a scrub...you dont get to go where the cool people are

Not a big thinker are you?

It clearly evidences that any audience Bassem al-Tamimi attracts would not comprise solely of Muslims; that most Australians agree with what he is saying and most Australians do not consider what he says to be "hate speech".

Tell me BigOl, have you read anything about him? Read about his platform?

No. Of course you haven't.

You are simply, and i use that word in every sense of it's meaning, reacting because he is a Muslim.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is an ex-Muslim ... she wants to speak out against the hypocrisy & extremists in this ideology ..

but when she wants to come here to speak .. she gets death threats & so called Muslim womens groups protesting her entry.

If she can't come in for security reasons ...... then this bloke can't come in because his fellow Muslims are the reason Hirsi Ali has cancelled.

No one is threatening his safety ....

but in fairness he should stay in Palestine.

She didn't get death threats for wanting to come here. She cancelled her tour due to "organisational lapses" by her sponsors.

This has already been established.

Ok smart arze how is Hirsi Ali inciting hatred?

She's telling the truth ... just like that Sth Australian Imam Tawrhidi.

If her life is threatened in this country because of her views on Islam as an ex-Muslim......

then this anti-Israel... anti the West... Palestinian can stay at home.

That was what Hirsi Ali herself said, Gnads.

Does she tend to be shy about calling out death threats?

Was there an opinion poll on muslim hate speech in there somewhere and I missed it?

When you are trying to be irrelevant you do not fkk around do you.

Well there will always be muslim apologists in any crowd won't there?

If Australia';s security agencies have provided the government with a threat assessment and soon after his visa get cancelled, it is an easy assessment of the situation isn't it?

The threats to Australian citizens would be too great to have this bloke get our radicalised mussie lunatics all worked up, to even let him step foot in this country. Not my opinion, but an actual government security threat assessment.

Don't ya hate it when the facts stomp all over your opinion polls.  :) :) :)

you actually cant get any lower then that.

if you feel drawn to the palestinian story, then you are drawn to a very very low "set point" of happiness.

people will keep coming back to the set point of happiness they have assigned for themselves, for the "emotional state" where they feel most comfortable.

if the palestinian issue is where you 'vibe" you are in a lot of trouble,
you basicly love pain.
you need to clean that up.

i would suggest watching a really good episode of Kath and Kim every night and just ignore palestine.
you need to stop your own emotional "pain" that you are addicted to . stop the carnage, dont be a trainwreck. if not for yourself, do it for family and friends

Bottom line - the government didn't want to hurt the feelings of the Israel lobby and risk incurring their wrath.

I expect there was behind-the-scenes pressure applied by the Israeli government too.

The Muslims demonstrating against the Somali lady were banging on about how her tour could cause violence against Muslim people. Dutton's argument was that this  Palestinian dude could drum up hatred towards the Australian Jews. The Muslim argument makes sense to me. Ban the Palestinian too.

I'm not entirely happy with your comment here, codsey. I have personally had Muslim work-friends who took no issue with me being a rabid agnostic, and many of them felt it no problem to wish me a Merry Christmas, etc.

We've got to keep it real, codsey, or otherwise these discussions are just hot air with no substance.

What about the attacks on Christians on public transport in Sydney.

At least 4 have been reported as directly perpetrated by muzzos against Christians.
Many others are simply swept under the carpet as just attacks with no reference to being religiously motivated.

But if someone was to insult or "heaven forbid" clot a muzzo for any reason.....its all muzzos on the rampage.
Protests everywhere and calls for beheading.

someone has to show better judgement when we go around hitting each other and or as is the case on public forums... calling each other names....

just where does that get us or them????>>

it usually ends up with lots of blood and lost lives..

a WIn for no one.. as we can see by our other efforts of knocking each other out of existence.. WW1/WW11

nothing changes...we still fight and call eash other names..

That's my guess too, and it's yet another case of the tail wagging the dog.

The sooner we get rid of these feeble political game-players in Canberra the better.

It's ethnic communities dictating policy now.

BS it doesn't. Islam runs right through the whole issue. the Jew hatred, the lost Muslim territory, the Palestinian groups involved. You can't tell me this speaker won't attract the radical element so they have a good old Jew hate rally.

Lebanese Muslims are causing big issues in Sydney Cods. Where they go is problems. There's bashings, rapes, terrorism, murders etc all of the time.  New Zealanders ARE being deported . There's hundreds in offshore detention . If he's done more than 12 months in the can he's a candidate. There may be circumstances involved.

Absolutely correct. It doesn't mean their school will get the tick though. They already have a school for 224 people who by the way can go to any number of other Muslim schools in the area. People are well aware that this is a strategy to spread Islam into the area . First the school, then the huge mosque and then the influx. Then the area changes and becomes less safe. Then people move away and it becomes like Lakemba and a bunch of other Sydney suburbs.

There are no other Muslim schools in the area, Hammer.  I am glad you agree with me about what can and cannot be done to Muslim citizens/residents in Australia.  As for their school, if it fulfills the requirements under the Planning Act, there is absolutely nothing the Council or inhabitants can do to stop it's establishment.   You are simply peddling Islamophobia.   Tsk, tsk.   ::)

Oh they understand it perfectly, but because they feel somewhat insecure in themselves when faced with white, Anglo-Australians of mainstream Australia they prefer to gravitate to multicultural and multi-racial suburbs where their feelings of inadequacy and social incompetence is not nearly as threatened.

Not where they want it. They'd have to knock down buildings to put up an overpass. Their land is part of the main drag and is the most built up part of Penrith. The best thing to do is move their development away from the town centre. Penrith residents would probably approve. Nobody wants to see religion all over the beautiful main street of Penrith.

Everybody knows that when it comes to surgery you get the Jewish/Indian doctor, not the loser from the university of damascus.

Fkk Ill take any doctor from anywhere with a decent science program before the backwaters of the middle east.

Muslims breed terrorists, in there thousands, and doctors of dubious capability in their hundreds, we don't need any of them.

Typical ignorance. Most doctors who have had their training outside of Australia are not accredited here. They cannot get a license. University of Damascus or not.

You will have a surgeon who has studied here ... and plenty of them are Muslims.

Yeah one or two good ones might not get in, but a lot of filth won't make it in and this is nothing but gravy for the country as a whole.  :) :) :)

So, the Muslim surgeon you needed to save your life was refused entry to Australia, you wouldn't mind?  How about if the Muslim scientist, doing ground breaking research which your grandchild relied on to survive was refused?   Do you think either outcome would be "gravy for the country", BigOl64?  Really?    ::) ::)

Stop trying the child argument that you are so used to in your religious conversations, it doesn't work as well with adults.

I suspected you cut your own nose off to spite your face, BigOl64.   Tsk, tsk.    ::)

Typical ignorance. Most doctors who have had their training outside of Australia are not credited here. They cannot get a license. University of Damascus or not.

You will have a surgeon who has studied here ... and plenty of them are Muslims.

Not even close to what the conversation was about.

But thanks for having a go, you special education Magna Cum Laude.  :) :) :)

I'll walk you through iit again, shall i?

You said:

"Everybody knows that when it comes to surgery you get the Jewish/Indian doctor, not the loser from the university of damascus.

Fkk Ill take any doctor from anywhere with a decent science program before the backwaters of the middle east."

To which i said:

"Most doctors who have had their training outside of Australia are not accredited here. They cannot get a license. University of Damascus or not.

You will have a surgeon who has studied here ... and plenty of them are Muslims."

Now, would you like to claim again that you are "on target"?

Buit that is all you ever do.

You cant win a logical argument so your most common retort is to attack the person and call them a islamaphobe.

Deny this, I dare you.

Besides, I was truly inquiring about your well-being.
Who does tie your shoelaces

If your adroitness is mirrored by your intellect, you would ceartanly need someone ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thats OK.

If they don't have a licence, they simply pretend to be a doctor they met in India and bingo, they are a doctor.
The Australian authorities are obviously all over this practice.........not.

Ooooh, I am frightened, Valkie.  What are you going to do?  Come 'round and beat me up?   ::)

The reason WHY I call a person an "Islamophobe" is because they are posting Islamophobic text based upon prejudice, not rational argument.  When you actually come up with a rational argument that doesn't rely upon insulting people because of their beliefs or their inheritance, get back to me.  Until then, I will continue to call you an Islamophobe on the basis of your irrational, bigoted hatred.   Tsk, tsk.  Run along, isn't it time for bed for you?   ::)

Sage advice, Cods.  Listen to Gnads.   Spike Milligan summed it up rather well, "those that live in glass houses, shouldn't drop their trousers!".    :)
