That is photoshopped, I bet!

The plane is taking off else the blind would be down. If it is taking off no way a bird could catch up to it. If the bird was flying the legs would be tucked up.

Dunno.  Bird could be cruising on the airflow over the wing.

It is a great photo, no matter the provenance, very dramatic!

They do tell you to put the blind down on landing, no idea why.

no they don't, they tell you to put them up on takeoff and landing. Apparently it's because the hostesses need to be able to keep an eye on engines etc so they can act immediately if there is a problem.

Yeah? Could be wrong, haven’t flown for a couple years. Sure it was down tho, on descent. Maybe some passengers panic?

I found this

Lifting the shades on the windows during take-off and landing might seem like a trivial ask to many aeroplane passengers. Some travellers believe that this to prepare them for the jolty landing moment when the wheels hit the concrete below.

But experts have now revealed the reasons why it is much more important to passenger safety than you would think.

Aviation Safety Officer, Saran Udayakumar told Quora users that in cases of emergency the cabin crew only have 90 seconds to evacuate the aeroplane. In order to make this possible the crew prepare the passengers and the aircraft so if anything does go wrong they can evacuate quickly. This also means emergency personnel outside can see into the cabin to assess the situation

If you have ever been on a plane, the plane takes off at high speed. Only taxiing speeds can birds be able to keep up with a plane. This bird does not show any surprise or fear at nearly being cut in two by the plane's wing, or being able to crane its neck around to be photographed. A photographer has to be right on the money to have gotten a shot of a taxiing plane with a seagull looking inside.

No schitt that it is photoshopped.

Photo-shopped - the bird can't fly that fast.

How do you know the bird wasn't flying towards the window and they bird and aircraft just happened to intersect when the photo was taken?

The position of the legs of the bird-it was coming in to land somewhere.

Dunno Monk.  Here's a plenty of images of gulls landing, and none look that thing in the OP.

Who knows what posture the bird would take if an aircraft suddenly appeared in front of it.

I don't have an opinion if that image is real, I'm just saying it's plausible.

Anyone ever taken a Sydney middle harbour sightseeing cruise?

The seagulls fly right next to the ferry at the exact same speed, and it appears as though they are just suspended in mid air.

If you're up on the top deck, you can actually put your hand out and prod them and they just move sideways a bit.

It's good fun   :)

Yes, that's the one.

Sir Booby invited me by PM on here, so I thought I'd go see how the other half (i.e. homosexuals) live.

Might take the ferry to Manly for a cafe breakfast on school holidays.  I'll checkout the homosexual seagulls and try some muesli. Can you recommend any nice ones?

No.

I don't eat muesli.

That's so '70s.

Whenever I catch the ferry to Manly, I stop at the Bavarian Bar.
