Title: Bannon/Conway/Mercer
Post by bogarde73 on Mar 14th, 2017 at 10:14am
If you think back to the primaries, there was a point (can't remember exactly when) at which Trump started to lose his momentum badly and Ted Cruz started to pick up.

The billionaire Robert Mercer was a major backer of Cruz but in due course shifted his support to Trump. Apparently there was a meeting between Ivanka Trump (not just a pretty face) and Rebekah Mercer, Robert's daughter, at which it was agreed Dad would back Trump and Steve Bannon and Kellyanne Conway would join his campaign.
It was after this that the slump in Trump's campaign ended and he went on to win.

Both Bannon & Conway have had associations with Mercer going back some time. Mercer has a long background in funding political causes, conservative causes that is, through a number of organisations and companies.
Mercer himself is trained as a computer scientist and one of his companies, Cambridge Analytica, so it is said, has the most sophisticated tools for analysing and predicting voter opinions and intentions ever devised, going beyond anything the pollsters use. Don't ask me how it works but I've heard it is more to do with psychological profiling at a micro level.

It's interesting though that the two daughters are political operators behind the scenes in their own right.

It is indeed. And Americans should all be relieved they didn't get Ted Cruz.

You know I would like to see intelligent and artful conservatives in power, but Conway? She has put the dumb back in blond. Be honest, what has the Trump admin achieved other than to alienate their friends. You cannot win people over with ultimatums. All those problems Trump championed during the campaign are be undercut by his blundering John Wayne attitude. The first thing a statesman has to do is to win over the opposition. Trump is surrounded by deadbeats, but he has single-handedly made himself into the public enemy. I said this several times during the campaign, Trump supporters are going to be disappointed.

Its not just me. Chris Matthews on Hardball has tried to be fair to Trump. The trouble is Trump won't allow it. And then there are those stupid bloody Tweets. No intelligent person can be anything other than embarrassed for America.

Everytime things start to look half-way good fro trump, the fool tweets off some more stupidity to remind the people that Trump really is the retard-in-chief

Some can never be won over. Trump targeted the swinging voters well, but he shouldn't, and didn't, target those far-leftists who obsess over identity politics. In fact, Trump antagonised this group and I bet he won many votes for doing so. Finally someone stood up to those aggressive morons.

Yep. He purged the 'neo-conservatives' early, at least I hope he did. There's still some rumblings about Iran, which suggests some are still in his ear.
