Buddhists caned for violating sharia in Aceh

Under a scorching sun on Friday, two ethnic Chinese men became the first Buddhists in Indonesia’s Aceh province to be whipped for violating its strict Islamic code.

The two men, identified only by their initials, A.S. and A.A., received nine and seven lashes, respectively, as punishment for gambling through cockfighting.

I am going to assume that the caning was for gambling, not for cruelty to "animals." Maybe someone can clarify that. The other thing that is totally weird is that people into cock fighting would consider themselves Buddhist. Just shows you how phuqued up religion is.

I've seen cock fighting in Buddhist countries throughout SE Asia. They're generally not fundamentally embuggered by their religion like muzzos. Good for society,  bad for roosters
