Title: Fact check on Trump's Congress speech
Post by Raven on Mar 1st, 2017 at 10:58pm
Here is a fact check on some of the President's claims.

Quote:
Since my election, Ford, Fiat-Chrysler, General Motors, Sprint, Softbank, Lockheed, Intel, Walmart, and many others, have announced that they will invest billions of dollars in the United States and will create tens of thousands of new American jobs.

Trump takes credit for business decisions made before his election.

Ford’s decision to abandon its plans to open a factory in Mexico and instead expand its Michigan plant has more to do with the company’s long-term goal — particularly its plans to invest in electric vehicles — than with the administration. Ford chief executive Mark Fields said about the company’s decision to abandon plans to open a factory in Mexico: “The reason that we are not building the new plant, the primary reason, is just demand has gone down for small cars.”

Sergio Marchionne, the Fiat Chrysler chief executive, said his company’s plan to invest $1 billion for a factory in Michigan had been in the works for more than a year and had nothing to do with Trump. Marchionne credited instead talks with the United Auto Workers.

Japanese company SoftBank announced its $100 billion technology investment fund three weeks before the U.S. elections, when Trump faced a narrow path to victory. After a December 2016 meeting with then-President-Elect Trump, SoftBank announced $50 billion would go to the United States. But the United States outpaces all other countries in venture capital investments, and it is questionable that none of the $100 billion would have gone to the vibrant and promising tech industry in America — regardless of whether Trump was elected.

Quote:
We’ve saved taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars by bringing down the price of the fantastic new F-35 jet fighter, and will be saving billions more dollars on contracts all across our government.

Trump once again takes credit for the lowered cost of the F-35 program. The Pentagon had announced cost reductions of roughly $600 million before Trump began meeting with Lockheed Martin’s chief executive. Sometimes Trump says he saved $600 million, other times $700 million.

Quote:
We have cleared the way for the construction of the Keystone and Dakota Access Pipelines — thereby creating tens of thousands of jobs — and I’ve issued a new directive that new American pipelines be made with American steel.

Trump appears to be combining two disputed figures — 28,000 jobs for Keystone XL and 12,000 for the Dakota Access pipeline. The actual number of Keystone construction jobs, for instance, is 3,900 on an annualized basis — and other jobs have already been created (such as for building high-strength line pipe.) In the context of the U.S. economy, which just in January added 230,000 jobs, these are not many jobs.

As for the steel, workers in Arkansas have already built about half of the high-strength line pipe needed for the project, some 333,000 tons. TransCanada said in 2013 that it had already purchased all of the steel pipe it needed for the Keystone XL, with the rest coming from a Russian-owned plant in Canada, Italy and India. Experts say the plant in Arkansas (owned by an Indian company) is the only one in the U.S. that could build the pipe — and it gets its steel from India.

Quote:
America has spent approximately $6 trillion in the Middle East, all this while our infrastructure at home is crumbling. With this $6 trillion we could have rebuilt our country — twice.

Trump often incorrectly claims that the United States spent $6 trillion on the wars in the Middle East, and here he uses it in a particularly misleading way. The wars in Iraq (in the Middle East) and Afghanistan (in South Asia) together cost about $1.6 trillion from 2001 to 2014.

The $6 trillion-figure adds in estimates of future spending, such as interest on the debt and veterans care for the next three decades. Yet Trump says that this money (not yet spent) could have rebuilt the U.S. economy.

A couple more reported by USA Today...

[olist]Trump said “94 million Americans are out of the labor force,” a figure that includes the retired, college students and stay-at-home parents. The vast majority — 88.5 million — said they didn’t want a job.

Trump said he would “promote clean air and clean water,” a vague claim that came hours after he had signed an executive order to roll back a 2015 “Clean Water Rule.”
[/olist]

Another watch point - “The time for trivial fights is over”... So, no more crazed 3:00AM tweets then?

No mention of the ending of his compulsive lying... Maybe he's saving that one for next year.

And then there's this - the other 4 dozen Trump lies..

For all his playing nice and rational on Tuesday, he was the man who drove the 'birther' movement...

So let's not prostrate ourselves to Yahweh, Shiva or Allah in gratitude for Trump's 1 hour speech that didn't beg us to clench our sphincters just yet...

After all, we've all seen those youtube clips of animals aping human behaviour...

Like the neurotic orangutan in some zoo in South America that appears to play the bongos...

Every few hours he plays in tune to DAYO and all the zoo staff get up and shimmy round the park, overcome by the sudden apparent musicality of an otherwise aggressive animated mass of orange hair who, for a brief moment, isn't just banging on a tin or flinging his feces.

Lies, schmies.

If you're in politics then telling whoppers is all part of keeping the electorate happy.

Historians of the future will devote a small footnote about any exaggerations Trump might be indulging in, but their main and overwhelming focus will be about in what ways the Trump administration changed the political landscape, effected the economy, rescued the US from debt, improved the lot of ordinary Americans, dealt with immigration fraud, improved homeland security, cracked down on crime, and assisted the business community to grow and prosper and employ more people.

Little porkies and his posturing will count as nothing against these more substantive considerations.

Did you know that Mia Farrow (who?) is not too enamoured with Trump? Yep. It's on the Channel Nine online news service. Mia Farrow. Bet you were all bustin' to know what Mia Farrow has been thinking about Trump. The Channel Nine News Desk Knows What Their Public Wants to Hear.

Mia Farrow. Political commentator extraordinaire.

Next we'll be hearing from Kim Kardashian. Sourced from Twitter. Channel Nine news service. Seriously.

( ;D Memories. I once shared a psychiatric ward with this poor young fellow who worked for Channel Nine as a floor general hand, and apparently he managed to trip on a cable that pulled a plug out of its socket that caused pandemonium in the studio. I don't know why he ended up in the ward, but he must have gone ballistic at the Channel Nine studios for some reason - maybe they sacked him).

It will take you years to reckognise what has actually happened and until then you will remain irrelevant and beside the point. Sniping at Trump is just missing the point entirly - but that is all you have. And it will take you a long time yet to get that. That is why he is president - you guys do not learn.

I don't know why people bother fact checking Trump.

His supporters don't care and to them, the work done in fact checking only makes you come off as an intellectual nerd pushing a bias agenda (to Trump supporters) which only reinforces their belief in Trump's lies.

They value strength over what's right, and for now, strength is being defined as who has the loudest voice, which is great for Trump.  It's just shame that he is an incredibly weak person and leader but his supporters just can't see it.

But seriously, the Truth is important and I'm glad that I've not been the only one to fact check his speech.  Perhaps the constant corrections and highlighting of his lies may eventually penetrate through the thick skulls of some of his supporters and open their eyes to the truth.

I won't be holding my breath however.  As long as they see him as "anti establishment" which by the way, they could take his word for that during the campaign, but he's been acting like a bought and paid for politician since coming into office, they'd have to ignore so much to keep him in the "anti establishment" category, but while they're doing that, the truth is optional.

Thanks for all the posts by those providing some balance to his lies and misrepresentations.

It's really stupid...  There is plenty to be unhappy about with this administration, but this level of extreme-nitpicky forced outrage used to be a trait of the right going nuts over Obama.  They needed to manufacture their outrage over things like this, it's not required with Trump and his administration.

Stupid stupid stupid people.  Way to devalue the actual complaints.

I've read Aquascoot's chapter on how women can't resist Alpha-stallions males.

there's an element to that Herb.

the leftie woman tends to be very anxious, quite fearful in fact .
Now she doesnt realise it but her DNA is telling her , if i mate with the weak and submissive beta male, any child produced from that union will now be anxious, fearful, weak and submissive and will thus be DESTROYED.

a woman who keeps interacting with you but is always giving you abuse is , in fact "sh*t testing" you.
she wants to see if you are really able to "hold your frame"
she wants to see if you are the real deal or faking core confidence.

if you apologise, supplicate or try to qualify yourself , you lose.  she now sees you as "shakey" and this is repulsive to a woman.

on a larger scale, this is sort of whats going on with trump.

the weak and fearful media are 'sh*t testing him".
When they are mildly abusive, they want to see if Trump will blink. if he does, he will be destroyed. a leader can never fail a sh"t test.
Just try and get up as a leader and aopolgise or try to self qualify.  it is below weak sauce. it is pathetic.

But its not a problem for trump.
that dude is icey
that dude is grounded 100 metres into the earth on solid concrete pillars
that dude just could not give  a f*ck.

This is enormously attractive to a woman and the reason woman sleep with sleezebags, rock stars , bar tenders and other guys who are just total douche bags. because those guys are FREE and dont care about social conditioning and group think

Have you seen his twitter feed?!  I'm sure you have yet you seem to say what with a straight face?

How can you claim he doesn't give a f*ck when the smallest thing gets under his skin and he goes on the attack like a spoilt child who doesn't understand the meaning of respect?

So much for being grounded..!

If he were grounded people pointing out actual facts to him that he doesn't like or that is counter to how he sees things he goes nuts.  That's more unhinged than grounded.

And how does that make him an Alpha?  That's hit big tell, his true weakness coming to the surface.

There is a lot he needs to do, but a big thing is to relax and grow up.  He might have been able to get away with is for most of his life with the status and money to act like such a schoolyard bully and threaten his critics all these years, but more (should be) expected of him now that he's in the oval office.

What's more worrying, perhaps, is the Republicans just ignoring Trump and getting on with business. This is already happening, particularly as Pence travels around the world smoothing things over with foreign leaders.

Some Republicans are a real worry, and as competent and sensible as Pence presents, I'd include his Bible Belt bent.

Trump is an urban liberal by nature. He's had to reverse many of his views to get through the Republican primaries. He's gone from soft on drugs to hard on drugs, pro-choice to pro-life, for sensible gun laws to against any reform whatsoever, advocating universal health care to smashing Obamacare. Trump's liberal bent has been twisted to fit the Republican agenda.

As for the "Establishment", Trump's staffed his administration with the most corporate-friendly Establishment Republicans he could find. He'll hand policy over to the big lobbyists as all Democrats and Republicans do - as the Bushes, Clinton and Obama did. Junk food, the pharmaceutical industry, weapons manufacturers, fossil fuels, the banks and hedge funds will continue to write their own rules, no matter what Trump says about making Amerika great again.

As Trump carries on about returning government to the people, the Republicans will continue to quietly cede power to their friends. When they retire from politics, they'll continue to be given jobs as highly-paid lobbyists. Trump's already started the process, demanding that for every new regulation proposed, two regulations be scrapped.

Wall Street and the banks - those who created the GFC - are loving it. They'll happily nod and chuckle over Trump's anti-globalist rhetoric. Corporate globalization is based in the US. With the US essentially running the World Trade Organization, headquartering the US patent office and the Therapeutic Drugs Administration, globalization is an Amerikan phenomenon.

Sure, American workers and consumers might not benefit from this; the corporations do. Sure, the US tax department might not benefit from this, the corporations do. And as Trump carries on about acting in the interest of America, his administration, the Congress, the Senate and all the federal agencies quietly get on with the business of lining the "globalists" pockets.

Meanwhile, Trump will carry on correcting the public record on everything from the size of his election win and his inauguration crowd to how he doesn't wear a wig. The Establishment, while hesitant at first, now know they've never had it so good.

Not at all. Prisons in the US are a lucrative source of labour. State and private prisons alike now have manufacturing contracts with all sorts of companies, including weapons manufacturers.

With the highest per-capita population or prisoners in the world, the US prison is the new workplace. Why employ wetbacks when you can pay jailbirds 50 cents an hour?

That, and the white power racism Herbie identified. Nixon started the war on drugs to manage the black ghettos. The war on drugs (and the drugs themselves) ended the black power movement of the 1970s. Successive law-and-order auctions by politicians have, in some counties, put entire communities behind bars.

Poor white crackers have been collateral damage in this war, and believe it: this is a war. The streets of many American neighbourhoods are patrolled by armoured troop carriers and cops in military uniforms carrying high-powered weapons, all surplus from the invasion and occupation of Iraq.

Cops are encouraged to be trigger-happy. They see their job as a war too. The training and policies of many county police departments enforce a shoot-first-ask-questions-later policy, and this isn't coming from the communist party or the ACLU, it's coming from ex-cops themselves.

It should come as no surprise that, along with its incarceration rate, the US has the highest rate of shootings by police in the developed world. It should also be no surprise who those targets are.

I was actually born in Kenya, says Obama

BARACK Obama has admitted he was born in Kenya and ‘you can all go fcvk yourselves’.

At a White House press conference, the soon to be former president confirmed he had thoroughly enjoyed his time in office and had been lying about his birth certificate all along.

He said: “Job done. Got to live here for eight years. It is a seriously nice place. I also had a huge plane and a helicopter and I could play golf whenever I wanted.”

He added: “Anyway, enjoy this total shitfest. I’m going to become a professor, or head of some big UN thing.”

President Obama then laughed and went back to watching a marathon session of Salvage Hunters and looking at a brochure for ‘one of those massive Audis’.

President Donald Trump on Saturday put restrictions on the kind of lucrative lobbying gigs his White House aides and other administration officials can accept after they leave government.

Is that the same bloke who put his balls on the line that Obama was not a natural born American citizen... Until he was?

President Obama then laughed and went back to watching a marathon session of Salvage Hunters and looking at a brochure for ‘one of those massive Audis’.

;D ;D ;D

Sociology, not race - is the answer.

The social dynamics of black enclaves has its own cultural imperatives and demands which if ignored and rejected can see the individual and his family being demonised and threatened for not subscribing to the sub-community gang's 'code'.

It's just the same with Whites in parts of the UK. Council housing estates used to be notorious for gang criminality and intimidation of which there have been several movies made on this theme - one of the most haunting was the 1958 'Violent Playground' with Stanley Baker and David McCallum.

Very sociological of you, Herbie. Black enclaves don't have a lot of jobs or opportunities, so the individual and his family rely on one of three things:

1. Drugs
2. Sport

They do, dear. It's called prison.

Quote:
"The United States has about 5 percent of the world's population, but we have 25 percent of the world's prisoners - we incarcerate a greater percentage of our population than any country on Earth," said Michael Jacobson, director of the non-partisan Vera Institute of Justice. He also ran New York City's jail and probation systems in the 1990s.

A report by the organization, "The Price of Prisons," states that the cost of incarcerating one inmate in Fiscal 2010 was $31,307 per year. "In states like Connecticut, Washington state, New York, it's anywhere from $50,000 to $60,000," he said.

Yes - $60,000 a year. That's a teacher's salary, or a firefighter's. Our epidemic of incarceration costs us taxpayers $63.4 billion a year.

The explosion in incarceration began in the early 1970s - the political response to an explosion in urban violence and increased drug use.

"So 'Tough on crime,' 'three strikes, you're out,' 'Let 'em rot, throw away the key' - all that stuff resulted in more mandatory sentencing, longer and longer sentencing," said Jacobson.

It's a vicious circle, and the more blacks in jail - the less is the stigma attendant upon your son or brother being in jail. Crime becomes trivialised in the Black communities by sheer weight of numbers, and the prisons system is a growth industry that soaks up thousands of blacks who would otherwise be on the unemployment queues.

Is this a problem, or is it in fact a reasonable solution to the sociological phenomenon of seemingly disenfranchised minority communities cannibalistically turning in upon themselves with drug-dealing, turf-murders, and colour gangs?

Now you're referring to Labelling Theory. Good show, Herbie, and I agree.

The more black kids who are removed from their parents, brought up in residential care and juvenile detention, the more the US will be paying around $60,000 a year to keep them alive.

Here is where people like you with the glowing embers of an anti-White racist agenda to stoke go lurching off to the Left in search of White Persecutors to blame for Black Victimhood.

Blacks can extricate themselves from their ghetto circumstances if they have the courage to move to more congenial but unfamiliar surroundings.

A smart question, Herb. I'll put it to you.

In the US, welfare payments vary from state to state, but a single welfare recipient averages $300 a month, or $3600 per annum - if eligible. Most states top these benefits up with food stamps - again, if eligible.

http://www.welfareinfo.org/payments/

The cost of incarceration ranges from an average of $30,000 to $60,000 per prisoner (see above). Some prisons cost far more, including some maximum security facilities.

So, the cheapest prison setting available in the US - facilities in states like Arizona, where inmates live in tents and eat stale sandwiches - costs ten times the amount provided to welfare recipients, or 1000%.

Do you think this is a reasonable solution to the sociological phenomenon of seemingly disenfranchised minority communities cannibalistically turning in upon themselves with drug-dealing, turf-murders, and colour gangs?

Economics is clearly not the problem with all those States that rather fund their murderers for life rather than execute them within a couple of years of conviction ... and then economics is obviously not the problem with those States that do have the death penalty but whose average time before executing convicted murderers is all of 9 years.

And so it's clear the States aren't too worried about what their accountants tell them about the cost of keeping prisoners on the government gravy-train inside prison -- as well as the cost of the gravy train for the unemployed outside of prison.

US prisons employ thousands of blacks - WAY more than whites, and so in the final accounting it's a win-win from a cost-effective point of view.

And then each State has done absolutely nothing to remove the hundreds, if not thousands of the illegals who occupy jobs that the local blacks could be employed in, and so again that's evidence that conspiracy theories about incarcerating blacks is dreamtime hogwash of the sort that gives Marla hot flushes.

An estimated 11 million South American illegals are spread out across the United States of America - and one can only guess at how many blacks would not be in prison if these jobs were available to them.

But that's not what you asked, Herb. You asked if incarceration is a reasonable solution to the sociological problem of seemingly disenfranchised minority communities.

Your preferred solution seems to be based around generating jobs and providing employment.

Would we be correct in assuming that you don't agree with the US' current economic model?

Amen to that.

How is it that Australia, Britain, and New Zealand do not have an immigration program sourcing America's Negroes despite their high unemployment rate which frees them up to emigrate to these English-speaking countries?

Over and over the Left like to accuse us of racism, and yet we never hear them ask their Labor, or any other party politicians why it is that America's teaming black millions are not invited to migrate here.

Another watch point - “The time for trivial fights is over”... So, no more crazed 3:00AM tweets then?

Well, like junkie, Trump held out for less than a week...

A tweet is not a fight, ya diddy.  Except for the likes of you. For you, EVERYTHING is a fight when it comes to Trump.

You guys always need something to be deranged about.

What did you think Trump was referring to with regard to trivial fights? Trump only fights via twitter or when he has control of the moment... Face to face he tends to revert to insincere praise that, once back on safe ground, he tweets reversals and insults...

And the murderers and the rapists, thieves and law-breakers of every kind are in US jails because of the laws designed to put them there. How unfair!!!!!!!!

It's soooo easy for the racist, oppressive, privileged majority, they simply don't commit crimes!!!!! They cunningly designed laws that do not penalise going to work, paying taxes, raising your own children and being a respected member of your own community How dreadfully and systemically  insensitive and privileged.

What could be the reason do you suppose?

He's back. Not a sociologist anymore, are you, Herb?

You're a plumber for old boy stool.

Good to see you haven't given up yet. We'll miss you, you know.

Does Australia have an immigration program targeting any ethnicity these days?

Indians. Masses of them.

If you live in Sydney you'll notice the entire Metropolitan area is becoming increasingly infested populated by these subcontinental Negroes.

Do you think we should ban curries, lock them all up for breaking the law, and then accuse them of being rapists and murderers?

Sociology, innit.
