The only Poll that matters is the one on election day when you cast your vote. Identity theft is big business in this part of the world and you don't give any stranger regardless of who they say they represent any of your information. We just had some guy sit in the White House for eight years who uses the Social Security number of a dead man from Connecticut. The government doesn't reissue the numbers.

Pollsters know what crowd to sample to get the response they want. If HUFFPO had a survey about a proposed law to outlaw Abortion on Demand you should be able to guess the results.

He always says in interviews the rich should pay more tax (including himself). Why doesn't he just make undeducted charitable donations to the amount he believes he owes? By not doing that, isn't he essentially evading tax?

When I see a post like this it reminds me of the Bumper Sticker "ninety percent of all statistics are made up". So I expect that is where you find wisdom!

If you pay a little closer attention to what you hear you may notice that they say x percent of "Participants". Most surveys are bias in some way so they generally seek the results they want by targeting sympathetic groups.

The ABC and Fairfax Australia do this neat little trick when it comes to polling. They poll primarily in the inner cities of the major cities. Glebe in Sydney is one of the most partisan leftist strongholds in Australia. The good people of Glebe apparently speak for everyone.
