I also like that old lady giving the cops the double thumbs up AND the guy yelling out, "Thanks for doing your jobs guys, I appreciate it."

Professional actions taken by the cops.
Good to see, the US is in safe hands

Change the audio to Spanish-speaking voices and you'd think it was filmed in the 70's-80's somewhere in South America...

It's in the law. It's a safety issue. These "on road" protests get people run over and cars get attacked. I'd say the cops have had enough.

The First Amendment guarantees freedoms concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition.  It forbids Congress from both promoting one religion over others and also restricting an individual’s religious practices.  It guarantees freedom of expression by prohibiting Congress from restricting the press or the rights of individuals to speak freely. It also guarantees the right of citizens to assemble peaceably and to petition their government.

Quote:
If you endanger others while protesting, you can be arrested. A protest that blocks vehicular or pedestrian traffic is illegal without a permit. You do not have the right to block a building entrance or physically harass people.

Why yes it is, numpty

It recognises peaceful assembly not being a useless deadsh1t assembly.

You should have research "Peaceful Assembly" under the US Constitution instead of stupid photos; you would have looked a lot less stupid.

Amendment I (1791)

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

The police are doing their jobs.....better said, for the first time in a long time, they are being allowed to do the jobs they know needs being done.

The First Amendment to the US Constitution, the Law of the Land, tells government that the government must allow people to peacefully protest, just as long as the protest doesn't impose itself unduly upon the rights of other American Citizens.

Violence, & forcefully denying other American Citizens from their Right to Liberty, traveling freely from place to place, is not peaceful protest, making the protest illegal.

Therefore the cops, the employees of the People, are then required to rectify the situation, for as long as the illegal protest(s) continues.

I agree, forcing people to consult their GPS to find a bypass around constitutes harsh restrictions on liberty.

Our cherubs are much more fragile here, so maybe here in Australia our police have to hand out roses, & bow at the waist to illegal protesters while begging them to kindly move on, but in America they don't, & by the authority of the American People as a whole, the employers of the police, the police are permitted by law to use whatever force they deem reasonably necessary to enforce the Peoples law, & restore order. ;)

Ah, DonkeyBoy, waken up from your drug induced coma I see....  Any restriction on the Peoples Right to Liberty, as displayed by these cherubs, is & should always be considered illegal, & therefore needs to be dealt with....rudely.

I wish our cops had the balls, but maybe that's a tad unfair, maybe their employers (us) should remove the eggshells from under their feet, enabling them to 'clang a few' from time to time when they get out of hand! Coddling assholes like those "so called protesters" will only embolden them to progressively rage on.

When they become mandated by government that every citizen carry one, you'll find out.....until then, the lil fukers gotta be manhandled out of the Peoples way.......those protestors, & anyone watching, now know what they were doing, attempting to forcefully impede traffic, wasn't legal, nor acceptable.......full stop.....         ;)

JFYI.....an example of Michigan law, which pretty much says it all

Quote:
After reading the story of a woman in Georgia whose son was killed when he darted out as they were crossing in the middle of a busy road instead of at a crosswalk, I will try to be more diligent about following the rules.

Not only did she suffer the loss of her son, but she was convicted of vehicular homicide because she was crossing illegally. A judge has offered her a new trial amid national outcry over her fate.

It got me thinking about pedestrian safety and the rules of the road, not only as people cross the road, but as they're walking or running along it, too.

Some readers, like Toby, were already thinking about it. He asked Traffic Talk to examine the rules for pedestrians, including what side they should travel when walking on the street.

“We drivers are always on the watch for walkers, runners and bike riders, but they have a responsibility to be watchful for their safety, too.”

Our faithful source Michigan State Police traffic safety expert Sgt. Mike Church said the Michigan Department of State recently published a helpful brochure on pedestrian safety that provides several smart tips, many of which are common sense.

He also cited some helpful sections of the Michigan Vehicle Code laying out the law:

No pedestrians on limited access highways or expressways.

Pedestrian crossing signals, they must be obeyed. If there are no signals, pedestrians can cross on a green, yield to traffic on a yellow and stay put on a red – unless they can cross safely.

And.. ..pedestrians may not walk in the roadway if there are sidewalks present. If there are no sidewalks, they must walk on the left side, facing traffic.

When it comes to who has the right-of-way, pedestrians or vehicles, it's “a bit tricky,” Church said, and dependent upon the situation. In fact, there's probably fodder for several more Traffic Talk columns in that area.

The MVC declares it illegal to interfere with traffic “by means of a barricade, object, or devise or with his or her person,” but it also says that vehicles must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians “lawfully” within the intersection or crosswalk, Church said.

BTW.....I got your sarcasm, but I know ya better DonkeyBoy.....but that's ok...you can't help it. ;)
