Title: Are we there yet...
Post by Agnes on Jan 26th, 2017 at 5:05pm
I am counting down the days until summer is gone-it has been a very wet summer here , as a result combined with the heat- humid. January almost down- only 4/5 more official weeks to go  :-[

And I can't wait.

I think SA power might have done some real  maitenence on their lines..we haven't had a blackout the last 3 storms !

38 here on Monday....not happy..we have had some rain  not near enough though...but the sun is relentless...hopefully overcast tomorrow gives us a bit of relief....

we are poor folks really arent we?.. all we can complain about is the weather being too damn hot.... ::)

as you say the bush fires have been low this year...and sadly mostly lit on purpose...

I keep asking

what are we coming too? :( :(

Imagine using some fat f#ck kids to advertise KFC. Who'd a thunk that'd work?

At firstborns birthday party of about 15 kids a few months ago, I quizzed the kids on what fast food they'd tried. Not a single one had tried KFC. They all called McDonalds McPoopoo. :)

Looks like Jan/feb is really going to ramp up out here- just to make life difficult. High 30s the next four days and more storms no doubt. The wet and humidity makes an ideal environment for growth and this is summer where we have greenery everywhere, as if it is spring. It is usually burnt off and tinder dry, hot house type conditions.

I know I whine about storms causing trouble but by the same token..I do love wild thunderstorms a lot..especially with high winds.  Adelaide.

Well I must agree with you there- it is a bit strange- maybe back then they weren't so health conscious and being a bit porky was not the big no no it is now. :(

Not too many were porky back then. We had very few fat kids when I went to school, look at them now!

I put on a little bit of pork in my 40's for a few years until I thought, whoah dude, look at yourself! I stopped eating like I was still in my 20's and started moving like I did in my 20's.

It would still be an attitude problem-and you might be right- because there was no discernible obesity problem perhaps- But since the advent of KFC et al- porkers everywhere.

No i mean what he looked like then.  He looks a bit heavy but nothing really unusual.  Even the Asians in Sydney are getting chunky.

I'm feeling a little too slim, I'm throwing a couple of Lamb loin chops into the pan and grabbing another beer.

Calling people wogs, fat shaming was all good fun then.
We're too sensitive now.

Universities are even  banning clapping because it's a trigger  :)

“@nuswomcam please can we ask people to stop clapping but do feminist jazz hands? it’s triggering some peoples’ anxiety. thank you!” Oxford representatives wrot

My gardens are doing so well that my beans are building leaves instead of beans.... come on, guys!  I don't pay you for leaves!  Tomatoes are good, and the lettuce are fine - the squash ($12 a kilo at the stupormarket) are raging, beside the egg plants.. spinach is racing after two days of rain.... potatoes are taking their time like the onions....

It has been a hot, humid summer. But there has not been very much rain. There has been no cyclones in the Coral Sea this season. That is a rarity. Perhaps there is to be a late charge with rain for February. But at the very least, the western regions have been getting decent rainfall totals.
