Anyone with half a brain would see that the behaviour of the perpertrator was highly irratic, and irrational. And definitely does not bear the hall mark of calculated terrorist attack. Even, the Martin Place shooter have more organization and purpose than this.
What I see, is a guy high on drugs, probably ice - high. Bashed a man on Wednesday, thinking he is going to jail. Probably had a disagreable with his brother on bail, stabbed him. And then thought oh what the hell, I am going to jail anyway. Had more drugs and then kidnapped a woman and went on a driving rampage. |

Regardless I am thinking what sort of major charges he would be facing. Of course, it would be good if its x4 murder changes. And x25 reckless driving causing injury.
However, can we prove that these are murder? If he is high on drugs, his defence would be judgement impaired due to drug induced psychosis / mental impairment. If he did have some sort of delusional disorder, then the intent to kill would not be able to be proved. So, he will probably serve x4 charges of reckless driving causing death. Which bears 10 year penalty maximum if served concurrently. May be 5 years for reckless causing injury, serve concurrently but cumatively over the death charge. He could well be given just 15 years, and out in about 10 years with good behavior. And that would make him... late 30s? early 40s when he gets out? |

Now you guys probably know that I have a problem with the CULT.
I try quite hard to make my feelings known on this point. BUT I'm sorry, its drawing a very long bow to link this atrocity with the CULT. This is simply a nutcase who was off his face on drugs and obviously mentally unstable. There was no real intent as with most CULT terrorists and he was obviously not a practicing Muzzo. In this instance it was simply a mental case going nutz. Now on the matter of the useless legal system letting this nutcase out when he was obviously unstanble. Whee is the accountability? These judges demand absolute authority with regard to how they administer the law. They should also accept absolute responsibility also. Therefore if they let out a known nutcase, murderer, pedophile, and that animal re-offends. Charge the judge......simple. |

And, at times, hundreds of people come out of the train station at once. Moreover, apart from the cars, there's the added distractions of the horse & carts and trams going through the intersection. If I had to name just one place NOT to fire a gun in Australia, it would be that very intersection. |

Its not uncommon for accused in custody to refuse to attend court hearings, they are of course charged with the offences before they attend court so he remains in custody with a possible contempt of court charge if the magistrate so decides. He can also be ordered to attend forcibly in chains although that is uncommon.
