Title: Predictions for the first 100 days of Trump
Post by longweekend58 on Jan 12th, 2017 at 7:58am
the first 100 days of any new government or administration is usually the most critical. Opposition is usually fairly muted to enable the govt to find its feet although the Republicans have never quite understood that. It also gives observers an insight into what the new leader is likely to be like.

So what do you think will happen in Trumps first 100 days?  Here are my estimates.

~He will throw a daily tantrum because his extensive powers still dont enable him to rule by decree, something he would already know if he had ever run anything other than his own personal fiefdom.

~The economy will start to retract as his constant threats and demands spook industry from both moving offshore and moving onshore.

~Obamacare will be dumped and nothing put in its place.

~Russia will move on Ukraine either invading or posturing and Trump will do nothing... or worse.

~Twitter will close Trumps account

~Freedom of speech will be narrowed, if not by legislation then by threat and intimidation.

~General bizzare and contradictory behaviour.

~There will be one assassination attempt

I think he will have a honeymoon period tho to thinking people his appointments to Cabinet etc indicate disaster in the making.

By the end of the 100 days tho his lack of attempting to implement any of his promises will be eroding his support in the electorate.

His appointment of some conservative to the SCOTUS is going to signal the start of a rollback of gay rights, abortion rights, IR laws etc. Big companies and the rich will get tax cuts. This will see the debt start rising very quickly. This time next year the US govt will be doing the sorts of foul things the Libs are doing here.

Some of them are already true!  Obamacre dumped. Bizarre behaviour. And Obama moved tanks to Eastern Europe to put some brakes on his expansionism. Do you think Trump will be anywhere near as consistent?

You know those internment camps the tin foil hat wearers kept saying Obama was building, well it was actually the repugs & their backers.
They will be used to house any & all that dare to disagree within the 100 days.
America will be a police state akin to North Korea by 2020

And fools like Fred & Cods will be cheering & willing it to be that way here under Dear Leader Morrison/Dutton or the outside runner Abbott.
All, of course, being advised by Herr Abetz reading from Great Uncles hand book

I think in the end you will find little support for his actual policies and alot of support for his angst at 'the swamp'. After all, his is booting Obamacare and its main users are ironically Trump voters.

for fat steve and his fat wife, sitting on their couch in a durrr state , eating maccas and watching HBO and thinking that the "pinnacle of their existence" is the "reward" of "sitting on the couch" and "contributing no value whatsoever"...things are about to turn really nasty.

Trump is "evolutionary pressure" of the (hopefully) epic kind.

Those who are going up in life will find it easier as the anchor of socialist BS is removed from their necks.

Those who are going down in life will be getting one almighty jackboot up the ass. They will learn quickly to start to climb or they will continue on in cry baby self pitying purgatory , but, for the first time in many decades their whining and sooky sobs will fall on deaf ears.

Other world leaders will see that this "evolutionary pressure" , this "scorched earth policy", this "purifying by fire" is effective and eventually welcomed by an envigorated electorate and will follow suit.

socialism which is already dead in russia and china will die in the west as well.

Rugged individualism will become the gold standard.
Glorious days (unless you are a punk ass bitch of a mediocre durrr state sheep), in which case you are doomed

not superior at all.
what it demonstrates is that horseboy understands the incredible ammount of apathy in the west and that "chaos' (which Trump will certainly bring) is the catalyst to greatness.

You should read the book "good to great", which explores why companies fail when they become too cosy and how a chaos is the road to greatness.

Its the difference between commonplace writing and good writing.  Commonplace writing is words like what you would  say out loud. Good writing is crafted communication using uncommon words, uncommon phrases and a fully articulated message. "Stupider' is fine for speech and common writing, but good writing is a much higher standard.

That said, this is a forum and 'well-crafted communication' here is like throwing pearls before swine.

not superior at all.
what it demonstrates is that horseboy understands the incredible ammount of apathy in the west and that "chaos' (which Trump will certainly bring) is the catalyst to greatness.

You should read the book "good to great", which explores why companies fail when they become too cosy and how a chaos is the road to greatness.

What really made america great?
What really gave it focus?
What really brought out all that is good in the united states?

Pearl harbour my friend...chaos  and crisis are embraced by the person who aims for greatness.

Do you think "Obamacare" was the match to ignite the american spirit?
Surely you could not be that naive

No, you create a stereotype to look down on. Seek help!

That will be is most fundamental problem, apart from the fact that he has reneged already on so many promises.

Also.....what sane American is really going to stand proud shoulder to shoulder with this bloke as the President of their United States of America who seems to have the personal integrity, decency and honour of a sewer rat spawned by an orangutan father and a bonobo monkey mother.

Best illustration/comparison of that is Obama and Family and Trump and Family.  He is rich and 70 and his 'mail order??????' Bride is 46.  That ought to piss some people here right off, no?

He is a bloody joke, and how he ever got elected has me stuffed.

Probably not daily tantrums we will hear about, but behind closed doors the paint would start peeling off the walls some days. He will try to rule by decree anyway, and so abuse his powers.

~The economy will start to retract as his constant threats and demands spook industry from both moving offshore and moving onshore.

I don't think the economic effects will be felt this quickly. Later on though, the economy will start to struggle, especially with Congress taking no action to lift the minimum wage which has been US$7.25 an hour since 2009. This will cause homelessness to increase, poverty to increase, and the promised jobs not to materialise.

Only one perhaps, but I also expect hundreds of people to be locked up as "terrorists" for various assassination plots. Americans will consider all their options including those enabled by the Second Amendment.

Other predictions:
* Within six months, many people who voted for him will no longer admit publicly to doing so.
* He will keep some promises, such as building infrastructure. It won't be enough to prevent the economy from stagnating starting in 2018.
* His plan to cut taxes without a source of funds will cause the US deficit to increase by 50% within 3 years followed by another downgrade in the USA's credit rating.
* Republicans will take a hammering in the 2018 midterm elections, making no gains in the Senate, losing 40 HoR seats and with it losing control of the House despite the pro-Republican gerrymander in roughly 30 states. (Historically the midterm elections have tended to swing against the President's party.)
* Liberals (American liberals = left-leaning) will mobilise to create their version of the Tea Party movement, with Bernie Sanders being prominent.
* His approval rating will reach record lows not seen for any previous sitting President. (Lowest was 19% approval for GW Bush in early 2008, Trump's approval will go below this.)

Trump was only elected because the Electoral College is biased towards Republicans. Hilary won the popular vote.

FACT - the last time a first-term Republican president won the popular vote was in 1988. The only time a Republican has won the popular vote since then was 2004.
FACT - No Republican presidential candidate has ever won the popular vote but lost the election. It has happened to Democrats 5 times and twice in the past 20 years.

Ditto cods.

I expect just more whining and hissy fitting by the sore loser lefties who can't cope or accpet that Trump won.

Then maybe you can explain why the vast majority of the entire PLANET  despise Trump.

No, actually maybe you can back up your assertion, because as I seem to recollect it Trump was elected President of tye United States, and Hillary wasn't.

I could explain quite easily, but then it would require it to be understood by a person with more than one eye and a non-partisan brain and clearly, this is not you. Trump didnt even win the vote in the USA and overseas, he hs despised. People think he is a first-rate conman, a jerk and a possible Russian Puppet, even if unwillingly.

No go ahead and be confused about this.

What Trump policies do you specifically back ?

His policies on border petrol and fighting the Islamic State. His stance against political correctness. His hatred of Rosie O'Donnell.

You support a President's public hatred of someone?  The mans list of people he hates is extremely long being essentially, everyone bar a handful of fellow-billionaires and russian dictators.

A bit like calling someone a leftart when banking and mining rely on socialism to make their privatised profits.

Rosie O’Donnell is answering up to an online poll that found her the “most annoying celebrity.”

“I, apparently, am the most annoying celebrity, according to Parade magazine,” O’Donnell, 45, states in the video blog, made while in a swimming pool with two of her four children. “Frankly, most celebrities are annoying. So, I agree, celebrities are annoying. The fact that I am one is annoying, and I suppose I am the most annoying – but, whatever.”

Nearly 2,000 Parade readers voted in the poll, with 42 percent calling the former View co-host the most irksome – followed by Paris Hilton, with 24 percent of the vote.

00 days of Trump
I can see it now
Trump identifies all Australiab politicians and senior public servants as traitors and worthless
He invades Australia with no opposition as the Australian military recognise the accuracy in his words
There is a mass culling of all politicians and senior public servants resulting in the most prosperious time ever experienced by Australia

The remaining public service is decimated as public servants told to work or get out, 80% leave

Insurance companies are raided and all directors are charged with robbery
They are all sentenced to death for the seriousness of thier crimes

If you have a memory extending past 2008 you might have noticed that everything about Trump and this election is unprecedented.   Normally, a inveterate liar would not be elected. Trump did. Normally, a candidate who admits to sexual assault, not paying staff and having nos knowleget or interest in foreign relations would not be elected. Trump did. Normally, a person with zero experience in public office and a record of multiple bankruptcies, scandals and illegal activities could not be elected. But Trump was.

THIS is why there is such outrage and concern. It is as if there was some mass insanity that occured to get him the votes while the rest of the world and much of America says... WTF!

No one is saying that Clinton was cheated, although North Carolina did exactly that. What people are complaining about is that Trump continues to demonstrate just how unsuitable by virtue of skill, experience and temperament for the job.

Do yourself a favour and at leat understand why much of the world is very concerned about Trump - a man whose opinion on almost every topic depends on who he spoke to last.

the first 100 days of any new government or administration is usually the most critical.

Your thoughts are invited...

All of that plus enough arragance to ensure any possibility of a harmonous relationship with China is out of the question for at least the duration of a Trump presidency.
We may well be lucky not to be in WW3 as a result of his little dick syndrome.

That is a fantasy.

Yes, Clinton cheated Sander but she would have had the Democratic nomination even without cheating. Sh lost because - among other things - she is the kind of person who would cheat even when in a winning position.

Sanders was preaching a change message like Trump and had immense grassroots support. He had rallies that regularly attracted tens of thousands of people. He received over 3.3 million separate donations, more than any other candidate in US history.

Do not underestimate Sanders' personal popularity. He has been elected more times to Congress as an independent than anyone else (he has served since 1991), and has been very consistent in his message since becoming prominent in the 1980s. He would not have been "worse than Hilary", unless you're on the side of the moneyed elite and well-connected corporations.

Many Sanders supporters may have ended up voting for Trump. The mood for change is strong amongst the downtrodden, we also got Brexit for similar reasons.

No one is saying that Clinton was cheated

A lot of people have been saying that Sanders was cheated.

He would have defeated Trump quite handily.

What we had was an election campaign that resembled a contest of rock-paper-scissors. Trump beat Clinton in the election, who beat Sanders in the primaries, who would have beaten Trump in a fair contest if given the chance...?

I think that is highly presumptuous and probably not even remotely true.  Do you think there is even a single Trump voter that would have voted for Sanders? And without less Trump voters, Trump will still win.

The sanders claims are unfounded. Primaries are rugged affairs and complaints about unfair behaviour comes from both sides all the time. Sanders lost, that is all. He would have lost even worse than Hillary.

In a perverse way, its tempting to believe that's true. But (particularly) foreign journalists in the US covering his campaign and attending his rallies were themselves stunned to see that most of the attendees did not look like examples of the lowest socioeconomic white nor all that 'unwashed'... Sure, there were some but mainly there appeared (at least to them) to be representations from all social and economic strata...

If it is the way of all empires to descend into authoritarian states, then the rise of Trump may be the clearest sign yet that the US has begun that descent. After all, Trump has clearly expressed his approval of oligarchic rulers in its modern form with his admiration of Putin.

Trump will likely continue to galvanise support for his own authoritarian vision by using his instinct for belligerence... And, though most of us hate to admit it, we can be easily beguiled by it (even, for some, in awe of it). All narcissists know this.

Take China's foot stomping over Trump's baiting them on Taiwan... Most would be hard-pressed to deny that they feel some form of contempt for a nation that seems to like stomping its feet even when the issue is a foreign state receiving the Dalai Lama. This kind of foreign-policy Achilles heel is exactly what a Trump personality would be aiming for... Let's see if Trump invites His Holiness to the White House...

But anyway, sooner or later, as is the way with all US Administrations, war will come... And time will tell if 'making America great again' becomes a euphemism for a cataclysmic 'Bellum Americanum' or if the US Constitution can withstand the assault which the upcoming Trump Administration will (likely) make on it and deal to him in a way it has not with any other president in its history.

What is changing is that America will enforce its will. And when America wants to enforce its will, things change.

Barbary Coast.
WWI.

Trump means America is once again prepared to enforce its will. America is not dependent on China in any way. It's the other way around.   America is in the driver's seat in the US-China relations. China has nothing without American goodwill. China has nothing to bargain with.
America doesn't need China in any way. China needs America. China must come to heel and it will.

trump didn't win because people with low iq's voted for him, he didn't win because he promised to build a wall. He didn't win because he was rich or because he was popular or a celebrity.
Trump won for one reason and one reason only .... HE WASN'T ESTABLISHMENT ... at least not political establishment. Americans got sick of seeing the same old poo time in and time out, with the only real changes being the spelling of the parties names. They wanted something different in the hope, that finally, someone might listen to them and make some changes.

Whilst I applaud their willingness to give him a go, their blind faith in him is akin to stupidity. Trump will not deliver, he will prove to be just as pro establishment as the other politicians. He won't give a sh1t about the voters that put him there and he'll sell them out as soon as he figures out how to make a buck from it. I also think he'll bore with the presidency fairly early on once he realises he is just as much a prisoner to the establishment as everyone else. Once that happens, he won't even pretend to care about the voters ...

the worst part is, he actually believes his own hype and his own over inflated opinion of himself, and he has the potential to lead the US into a war it does not want whilst alienating it's allies at the same time.

What the new President and 'his people' are soon going to realise (if they hadn't already), is that nobody can rule alone and even massively popular HOS/HOGs (which Trump definitely is not) soon accept that most states' economic/socio-political trajectory (excluding micro-nations) cannot 'turn on a dime', no matter how genuine their will and drive.

At best, a degree or two in one direction or another is usually the best that can be hoped for without massive civil disturbance or civil war.

And Trump's instinctive belligerence towards even the slightest criticism will not change that...

His instinct for rhetorical outrage (which has currently being arrogated by those who are enjoying vicarious venting) is doomed to just wear thin and collapse as even 'his people' come to realise its true source - Narcissistic rage - and not 'merely' the naive overreach of a 'man in a hurry' to do good deeds.

Trump's recent attack on a highly respected (from both sides of the political divide) civil rights veteran, is just another example of how easily Trump's narcissistic rage  (his Achilles heel) can be provoked... And all of the US and the world is watching and learning.

Mm mm I think they both were equally jerks on this one.

"WASHINGTON — On Friday, Representative John Lewis, Democrat of Georgia, declared that he did not view Donald J. Trump as a “legitimate president.” Mr. Lewis, an icon of the civil rights movement, said he planned to boycott the inauguration, the first he will skip in three decades.

On Saturday, Mr. Trump hit back.

“Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results,” Mr. Trump said in a pair of early morning Twitter posts.

“All talk, talk, talk — no action or results,” he added. “Sad!”

Mr. Trump’s outburst drew indignation from many people who pointed out the unseemliness of attacking a civil rights leader on the eve of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Mr. Lewis was one of the original Freedom Riders, beaten by police officers while marching from Selma to Montgomery in Alabama."

Mr Lewis did service to his country during a difficult struggle, as did thousands of other Americans.  That cannot be disputed.

However, the concept that he can speak disrespectfully of another person, yet be safe from disrespect returned to him -- simply because the birthday of a civil rights leader approaches -- is beyond asinine.

Not a matter of a lack of US will as sheer stupidity.

Afghanistan with a long proud history of resisting invaders... How much will does it take when everyone is prepared to die to see the invader defeated?

War with China? It seems like its coming... How much more US 'will' is it going to take if there wasn't enough in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq?

And what does war with China mean for Australia? Will both sides send us the ultimatum: 'Either you're with us or you're with the enemy'?

The first 100 days of Trump's tenure will be sheer chaos as he tries to bulldoze immediate action from a system that is designed to prevent such speed of action.

Trump's real problem is that he is totally unprepared for immediate action because he did nothing about assembling an administration before he was elected. Furthermore, the system does not allow precipitate rash action because the wording of laws has to be considered and checked in case of unintended consequences of hastily prepared laws.

Furthermore, there is no evidence that the GOP majority will accept Trump's laws without a period of review.

Trump cannot bypass congress and senate, because without due consideration of laws congress and senate don't have a purpose.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trumps-busy-day-1-scrap-obama-orders-deport-023908668.html

Quote:
Here are some highlights of his stated opening day plans.

- Health care -

Trump has pledged to introduce, with Republican leaders in Congress, legislation to "repeal and replace" Obamacare, and his team stresses he will immediately sign executive orders related to dismantling the law.

He could issue them on two fronts: allowing people to keep their plans which might not have qualified under the Affordable Care Act, and voiding penalties for individuals not having coverage.

Trump recently said he then hoped to see Congressional action to repeal and replace Obamacare "essentially simultaneously," although Republicans have yet to unveil their replacement.

- Immigration -

During the campaign, Trump was eager to order the deportation of convicted criminals who were living in the country illegally, a group he said topped two million people.

"Day one, my first hour in office, those people are gone," he told supporters in Arizona in August.

But Leopold said such processes are already underway: Obama's administration made deporting criminals a high priority.

Plus, the president "doesn't have the power to order anybody's deportation," Leopold said.

Trump has vowed to introduce legislation on day one that would fund construction of the "great wall" he wants built on the US border with Mexico.

He could immediately suspend the Syrian refugee program, and pledged a day one suspension of immigration "from terror-prone regions where vetting cannot safely occur."

Another controversial move he has advocated is scrapping the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which Obama instituted in 2012 to allow more than 750,000 undocumented immigrants who came to the country as young children to live and work in the United States without fear of deportation.

"Trump could reverse that guidance with the stroke of a pen," Leopold said.

- Environment, energy -

Trump has made no secret of his intent to end what he sees as the Environmental Protection Agency's intrusion into American industry, including Obama's Clean Power Plan compelling power plants to slash carbon emissions.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence has said Trump will "end the war on coal on day one."

Trump pledged to scrap coal leasing moratoriums and open federal lands for drilling and mining in order to access a mother lode of oil, natural gas, coal and uranium.

He has also expressed intent on day one to approve the Keystone XL pipeline project linking Canada to US Gulf Coast refineries, which the Obama administration blocked.

Trump also pledged to immediately cancel "billions in payments to UN climate change programs" and use that money to improve environmental infrastructure.

- Trade, government -

Defying the longstanding free trade traditions of his own party, Trump said that on his first day he will announce the United States will back out of or renegotiate two sweeping trade pacts: the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a 12-nation agreement that has yet to come into force, and the longstanding North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico.

He vowed to immediately instruct his Treasury secretary to label China a "currency manipulator," a move that some observers warn could spark retaliation by the world's second largest economy.

As a way to "drain the swamp," his catchphrase for cleaning up Washington, Trump has said he will issue a five-year ban on political appointees becoming lobbyists after they leave the administration. He would also slap a hiring freeze on federal employees.

Are there five dozen smarter better choices Trump could have made? Yep.
But Mr Lewis played Partisan Grandstanding Bullshit, and was indeed slapped.  He's a politician, however, and likely knew the likely responses to Partisan Grandstanding Bullshit.

five dozen smarter better choices Trump could have made...

And not one of those 60 smarter options were chosen by Trump... He trusted his instincts - Narcissistic rage - And for a reason... Narcissists generally cannot differentiate between the ones you fight and the ones you let pass by.

And Lewis manipulated a situation like a good little Partisan hack. Well done. He won that parlor trick. Or did he?

Lewis won because he has brought the conflict forward before inauguration instead of letting it emerge at a later time.

Trump is not legitimately elected according to USA intelligence agencies.

No. Only in your sad obsessed dark little mind.
Mr. Steele, as a known former MI6 agent, was thought not to have gone to Russia in his investigations but to have used contacts inside and outside the country to prepare the dossier, which United States intelligence agencies have said they cannot substantiate.

I'm so sorry to hear that, but feel glad for you that you see it in yourself. It's the first step in healing. :)

Well, I'd be proud to stand side by side with a living, breathing friend of MLK like Lewis than just about anyone else alive today.

Wouldn't you?

Prediction for the first 100 days

Trump will threaten "Jhina" with tariffs. Then decided against it, shortly after the hundreds of millions of dollars he owes the Bank of China is mysteriously forgiven.

Mexico still won't pay for a wall

Around 100 people and organisations will be personally attacked by Trump on twitter.

65% of which will include the word SAD.

4-8 year prediction. Trump will not be able to keep anywhere near the promises he has made

With majorities in the legislature, the Republicans thought they had a pretty good chance of having the whole box and dice. Most did not want Trump, as they had any number of blue suited, gun-rights, anti-abortionist, global warming deniers to choose from. But Trump said, "Fine, I'll run as an Independent," and his popularity skyrocketed. It was his "line in the sand." That's when the Republican Party "fouled its trousers." It did not take them long to abandon their dislike of Trump when his chances became evident. So now they have their cake, but they'll have to eat it too. Somehow, they have to spin the eating of feces into that of wedding cake, but that's what politicians do best.

People, who support one party over another, without demanding to see the fine print, have streak of the simpleton in their psychology. Trump addressed issues by allusion, leaving nothing to make predictions on, other than trust. To those I say, "Good luck."
