Title: Rather sad story on homosexual mistreatment
Post by Redmond Neck on Nov 25th, 2016 at 4:01pm
Teenager killed himself after 'constant bullying' about his sexuality

Tyrone Unsworth’s mother says the 13-year-old year 7 student at Aspley state high school in Brisbane was repeatedly harassed

The mother of a Brisbane teenager who killed himself says he did so after being bullied about his sexuality.

Tyrone Unsworth, 13, was a year 7 student at Aspley state high school in Brisbane. He died on Tuesday.

Amanda Unsworth, his mother, remembered him as an ambitious, loving boy interested in animals and fashion. She told the Courier-Mail that “a lot of people started picking on him” over his sexuality.

“He was a really feminine male, he loved fashion, he loved make-up and the boys always picked on him, calling him gay boy, faggot, fairy; it was a constant thing from year 5,” she said. “I feel like these people who were bullying Tyrone are the cause of why he is not here any more. They pushed him to the edge.”

She posted an image of herself holding the front page of the Courier-Mail, showing a photo of Tyrone above the headline “Bullied to death”, on Facebook on Friday.

“We Love and Miss you so much Tyrone,” she wrote. “We will stand up and fight to get as much awareness help and support for others out there, SAY NO TO BULLYING.”

Guardian Australia has attempted to contact Amanda Unsworth.

Tyrone Unsworth had been hospitalised less than a month ago after an incident allegedly involving another student. Queensland police confirmed to the Courier-Mail that their investigation into the alleged assault was ongoing on Thursday.

His funeral will be held on 1 December at Albany Creek. His mother requested that attendees wear brightly coloured clothes.

Aspley state high school’s principal, Jacquinta Miller, said in a statement circulated by the Queensland department of education there were concerns about the wellbeing of Tyrone Unsworth’s peers following “this tragic incident”.

The school did not tolerate bullying, she said, and asked the community “refrain from inflaming what is already a complex and challenging situation”.

Miller had told the Courier-Mail that neither Tyrone Unsworth nor his family had reported any allegation of bullying to the school. “Neither the student nor his family ever came to us to say there was a problem of any kind.

“If they did, we absolutely would have stepped in.”

Her statement clarified that the recent incident reported to police occurred outside of school hours.

The Safe Schools Coalition Australia extended its sympathy to those affected by Unsworth’s death, which it said was evidence of the impact of bullying and discrimination faced by all LGBTI young people.

It pointed to research that said 75% of same sex-attracted young people aged between 14 and 21 had experienced some form of homophobic bullying or abuse because of their sexuality, or perceived sexuality. Eighty per cent said it was while they were at school.

In Queensland, school principals are free to decide whether their schools join the controversial Safe Schools anti-bullying program. A number of schools that had opted in were previously listed on the Safe Schools website but the list was removed after they began to receive abuse from opponents.

Guardian Australia has asked both the education department and Aspley state high school whether it is a member of the program.

“Safe Schools” was trending on Twitter in Australia early on Friday afternoon as many said Tyrone Unsworth’s death was evidence of why the program was needed.

While  don't like them, suicide and persecution is not the answer.

It's very rare for kids with sexual identity disorders to grow into happy adults.

These kids need psychiatric help, the sooner this is realized the better off they'll be.

A sickening story.

Poor little bugger.

And now his family will have years of suffering to endure.

No. They need acceptance.

They need to know that high school isn't the end of their life experience. That in the real world, they will find acceptance,

My sincere condolences to his loved ones over this senseless death.

That is, of course, until high schools catch up.

That was my first thought, why wasn't it spotted?

I've noticed kids start low level bullying at a very early age, 4? Usually very passive, more like excluding, grouping.

Is the worst age for bullying about 12 - 16 ?

Very sad that a child that young felt so desperate.  I would like to think I would have noticed his turmoil and sought help for him before it got to that stage.

I have seen lots of kids exhibit low level bullying while their parents and family think they are the epitome of the perfect child.

Playing sweetly with younger relatives and siblings until the adults' backs are turned and then pushing them over sort of thing.

Giving younger ones toys to play with while the adults coo at how wonderful that is.  Only to snatch the toy away when the adults' backs are turned.

in this day and age its inexcusable....with all the talk about trannies and making them blend in.. I do not believe this school has a leg to stand on...

we all have to accept responsibility these days...I am a great one for holding the person taking the video accountable as well..how often to we see brutality being filmed with an audience looking on..... its disgusting...

Why don't you like them? Why do you think what consenting others do in the privacy of their own bedrooms is anything to do with you?

Psychiatric interventions won't help.  They are born and hard wired that way.

Finally...you have posted something I can agree with!  Back in my day, blokes like me (I was bigger than most of my peers at School) knocked this schit off right there and then.  (I concede the bullying was not gender related......but it still went on.......skinny, fat.......wanker.............whatever.)  I also agree that Parents are now far too modest about stepping in at School on behalf of their bullied kid.

If one of mine was being done like this, I (personally.....yeas....me personally) would be right there in the bully's face and likely belt the little prick.

Wouldn't you want due process against 'the little pick ' to be served first or are you OK to be judge and jury?  Also what age children are you prepared to go onto school property to 'belt'?  8? 9?

This will be a good story for the boys down at the club tomorrow morning.

They'll all be spitting their coffee out on the floor of bRU, when Gordy regales them with this tale.

If the matter was not addressed by the School, and mine was likely to be suicidal, without any hesitation.

I don't mean that I would beat the shite out of an 'eight' year old literally.  But.....I would be physically (and I am not a small person) in his face telling him what will come his way from me if he did not stop bullying mine.

I'd give the bully their own back, as a parent of the victim of their bullying.

To take that a step further.  This is a true story I revealed at what was a credible PA some years ago.  I'm telling it as it is, and knowing the Law, but retired at the time.

We (Cabbies) as a routine dropped off at Schools and picked up from Schools, teenagers who attended a 'Special School,' for mentally challenged kids who were still able to go to School.

An afternoon pick-up.  All routine.   But, one  was not there, so I get out of the Cab to go inside to find out where he is.

I've gone no more that five yards away from the Cab, and dodge a missile thrown at me.  It hits the Cab.  A soft drink bottle.

Me:  "Which retard?"

They all froze and then pointed out some male kid I have never had any dealing with.  I go straight to him...I put my right hand (not a small thing) on his chest, and march him back against a tree which was nearby.  While I had him  pinned there, I gave him a gob full, and then released him.  I then marched straight to the Teacher's Staff Room and gave them the details.

They thanked me.

Never had any trouble there ever again

Sometimes, there is only one way to tell a kid he is an arse-hole.

Me? I would take my kid out of the school.

Mum is not to blame but for the kid's sake she should have pulled him out. Removing yourself or those you love from a bad situations is almost always a good idea.

aussie as you have said it was some time ago..

today you would be locked up for touching a child...once upon a time children respected the police uniform..not any more.. I dont think this is just a school. teacher problem.... but in this case where the school claims they never knew...I am sorry I would say thats impossible..and if the parents didnt approach the school.. then I would say there is something wrong with their thinking.. this boy would have been let down by all those who should have been protecting him....

The thread title, "regardless of your views on homos" is revealing

It is people like Mr hammer, by the very title of this thread, that caused this boys suicide.

Sue me.
So you would beat up a child.

Sometimes, there is only one way to tell a kid he is an arse-hole.

thats fair to say but mum admitted the boy had feminine ways.. he would get the bullying where ever he went....what did his mum say about sticks and stones.?..  they thought turning the other cheek would protect him......not in this day and age...

I dont really know what the answer is  lets be honest one size doesnt fit all...all I know is we have to do more and in each and every school....as to my mind this is getting worse.

Anywhere where they are happy. Schooling is compulsory and absolutely essential, where that happens is not. As I have said here before, reasons like this are why we home schooled.

Yeah, I'd rather my kids be able to learn without that kind of shyte and did, none of them are gay either.

If you, like others, think that is sub standard, one is a fitter and turner, one software engineer for Northrop Grumman and one registered nurse.

That's actually not true with a lot of them.

I had a folklift driver come into the office and start slapping around one of our more outlandish and flamboyant gays.

And then at another place there was this little gay fellow who was taunted and abused by fellow workers.

It doesn't matter if a thousand people are 'tolerant-and-accepting' - it only takes that one bully to make a gay's life miserable.

Bobby, my point is a number of sparring males on this forum suggest or imply their sparring partner is a homosexual.

Saying, "not that there's anything wrong with it" doesn't mitigate using homexuality as a put down.

I've made sure my 14 year old son knows I will love him, regardless of whether he turns out gay or straight.

Your son encouraged to be a pillow biter?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

If telling him I will love him regardless as to whether he is straight or a "pillow biter" counts as encouraging him, then guilty as charged.

You can't make a gay man straight any more than you can make a straight man gay.

Oh yes .. trust me, the staff and the Principle would have known.

My niece was a teacher in a State school for 8 years and the principle didn't want anything to do with hauling bullies into his study and reading them the Riot Act lest the parents came and beat down his door.

And in this case, if the bullies were anything other than lily-white, then even more so would nothing have been done about it for fear of charges of 'racism'.

But in this case the headmaster should be sued in court if
he knew about the bullying & did nothing to stop it.

Damages should be in the $millions & he should be personally liable.

Yeah, this thing where forum members accuse each other of homosexuality is juvenile. And yet we can assume that most are adult males. It actually says more about the poster making the accusation. Even as an insult, its pretty lame. It may indicate a frustration with their inability to compose a meaningful critique, therefore descending into invective they hope might slander the character of their opponents without evidence. I do not support the homosexual agenda, but it has its human context, and spitting out "Homo!" like a hissing cat, is hardly the sign of intelligence.

Pay attention, hippie:

In America alone there are a million-and-a-half people homeless in 2015. 300,000 of those homeless are children and an estimated 450,000 are either physically and/or mentally disabled. Millions more live in substandard housing, doubled up with other families, or in motels if they are lucky are people in living in their cars are also increasing.

Now I know such conditions mean nothing to your worthless cantankerous old ass but the truth remains even in your country a great majority of the population is economically insecure.

Such stress(es) caused by living in households where only one accident or illness away can leave someone in financial ruin has been squarely placed on young people who are not only burdened by having to take care of your old worthless ass but by debt, narrowing prospects, rising medical costs, and decreasing retirement benefits - something your worthless generation relishes in.

Compound that with by militarism and endless war the prevalence of serious depression among teenagers increased by 37% between 2005 and 2014. What's even more scary is children from 10 through 14 are for the first time more likely to die from suicide than from a car accident. Most of them within the borders of your own country.

Get lost.

When society substituted resilience and personal responsibility with self esteem, you may have seen some changes.

Bullying has been a part of every child existence, not coping with it is something new.

Get lost.

So what is the message here, Marla?

11 million Illegals are living and working in the US, and it's not rocket science that this would have a huge impact on all those African-Americans who are jobless and homeless.

Needless to say, you of course vote for Donald Trump, because if you didn't vote for Donald Trump - whose plan is to create Job Vacancies by jailing or deporting as many of these 11,000,000 Illegals as he can - then you're a moral hypocrite and a supporter of Blacks getting replaced in the Workforce.

Capisce, bambino?

Gay is one letter shorter than homo. Besides, if that was the only reason, why change it then qualify you decision. Your defensiveness says everything, dingus.

I did change it because a couple objected not denying that at all!

I didnt use Gay as some find the bastardisation of that good happy word with sexual connotations is offensive!

Maybe I will PM you when I next write a title for political correctness advice!

and you did the right thing red...words its all about words today...

you dont have to punch someone in the gut just put something ugly up on facebook... and do untold MENTAL HARM...

thats a fact......and I ask myself do we need ADULTS doing the same thing    without even thinking...a young boy committing suicide .really it doesnt have anything to so with his sexuality....I am sure he was quite happy in his own skin...

the ugliness of his bullies were what drove him to it..

I find the contest between bobs and gweg odious..boring.childish.non profitable...

but I presume calling someone gay is meant to be hurtful....

which means its still ugly to be gay >:( >:( >:(

Cods, i'm sure you're right. At the same time, divorce/separation and parental abuse are still the biggest factors in teen suicide. Who's game enough to ask the tough questions? Obviously not this leftist journalist nor the PC brigade on OP.

no one denies that but because it isnt TOP OF THE LIST doesnt make it any the less..something our society should be ashamed of..

I dont believe kids get bullied unmercifully at school or on facebook because their mum and dad divorce...

I'm  not talking about children being bullied because of their parents divorcing Cods. Children of divorce/separation kill themselves because  of the stress, guilt and anxiety of their dysfunctional family situation. Noone mentioned bullying.
