Title: DV against Aboriginal women exacerbated by PC
Post by Gordon on Nov 17th, 2016 at 7:12am
I'll upload the story transcript when it's up. Very interesting. One Aboriginal woman blames political correctness for DV against Aboriginal not being fully addressed...shhh don't talk about negative Aboriginal issues.

I'm also wondering if the huge rates of DV (described as a normal way of life in the story) in indigenous communities are enough to raise the national average.

Hey twit,  did you find the play button yet?  Or maybe you missed in my OP where I said I'd upload the transcript when available.  Not so sharp in the morning?

It's only a 3 min clip :)

You should try and sharpen up your mind in the morning., John. I was down the beach at 5, ran for an hour then a quick surf. You'll find being active in the morning stops you missing little things like you just did then getting angry and calling people a twit  :D

I've read a few early first contact accounts of early aboriginals. Seemed to me that it was far from the idyllic existence that seems to be the current narrative and rather one of violence and hardship - especially for the women and children. Then again, it was the norm for them and they couldn't imagine there was any other way. Other cultures should be respected, shouldn't they?

I venture to suggest that the violent society in which Aboriginal men are forced to live has a lot to do with violence towards the women in the same groups.... and the moves to 'empower' women are having the opposite effect, by creating further fuel for disputation between couples....

The answer is much bigger than imposing Captain Cook 'law' on men and using it as a tool to criminalise and imprison Aboriginal men... 3-4 years back I spoke with a prison officer and he said that around 25% of his inmates were there over DV issues.... most of those are technical  breaches and thus are a direct cause of a violent response....

Can you explain the violence in the remote communities in which Aboriginals are "forced to live"?
