I think we have had enough of the Clintons..weird that all the families of Pollies ( ie Bushs' etc) want to keep it going forever, why would anyone want to.

The Americans have always loved the 'romance' of monarchies, with their kings and queens, and their princes and princesses, and their castles and wooded estates - and so these aristocratic political family dynasties are the next best thing.

Those Presidents who have been American scions of established families have usually been treated with a forelock-tugging awe that would once have described their medieval European ancestors' attitude towards the aristocracy.

There is no doubt that had the American revolution not ended regnal rule in America, the American people (like the Canadians) would likely have fully embraced a constitutional monarchy.

Who knows, Maybe if British aristocrats had not so roundly humiliated Benjamin Franklin, he would not have incited rabid enthusiasm for a violent or abrupt separation from Britain and the American colonies.
