Title: Even as Shorty moves deck chairs Labor crumbles Post by juliar on Jul 22nd, 2016 at 10:00am
Gosh, the dust hasn't even settled on Shorty rearranging the deck chairs on the ALP Titanic, and the Laborites are tearing each other to bits as the ALP collapses into open warfare.
After Shorty creates the flop of the year today will the corrupt Commo unions finally decide to get rid of him ? Headaches for Bill Shorten as Labor Left splits, NSW Right rumbles over frontbench James Massola, Heath Aston, Richard Willingham July 21 2016 - 6:45PM Labor's National Left faction is set to formally split and shadow minister Kim Carr is ready to lead the creation of a new "progressive" Left faction based in Victoria. At the same time, a brawl has erupted in Labor's Right faction in NSW with senior MPs and potential future leadership contenders Chris Bowen and Tony Burke at loggerheads over the frontbench line-up. The Labor veteran could be demoted in a frontbench reshuffle. James Massola explains why and who is in line for promotion. As horse-trading for shadow ministerial places ramps up in the ALP ahead of Friday's factional and caucus meetings in Canberra, discussions have been held about a range of other possible moves. Those moves could include shifting Queensland rising star Jim Chalmers into shadow cabinet and the finance portfolio; a move by Tanya Plibersek, who is deputy leader and foreign affairs spokeswoman, to the education portfolio and current finance spokesman Tony Burke taking over environment - but not climate change - from current shadow Mark Butler. Shadow treasurer Chris Bowen at loggerheads over the frontbench line-up. There are also suggestions that trade spokeswoman Penny Wong could move to another portfolio, while NSW MP Ed Husic looks set to displace fellow NSW MP Sharon Bird and Victorian frontbencher David Feeney could be replaced by fellow Victorian MP Clare O'Neil. A senior NSW source said "a lot hinges on whether Tanya does education" and that if Mr Shorten's deputy - who had initially wanted to stay put - shifted, then much else could change. The same MP warned that if Mr Burke was handed only the environment portfolio, that would be viewed as a demotion and would be trouble for Mr Shorten because " the NSW Right just delivered more gains than anywhere else in the country and that would be a slap in the face for Tony and for the whole group". Meanwhile, Mr Burke has been leading a rearguard action to save Ms Bird, but that fight looks likely to be defeated. Kim Carr is ready to lead the creation of a new 'progressive' Left faction based in Victoria. Mr Bowen, the shadow treasurer, is part of the group backing Mr Husic and the Husic-Bird stoush is seen a proxy war for the leadership ambitions of Mr Bowen and Mr Burke down the track. Ms Bird's supporters are warning that any move to drop her, one of just two female frontbenchers from the NSW Right out of a group of six shadow ministers, would send the wrong signal on gender equality. However, the promotion of Ms O'Neil could assuage concerns about the number of women on the frontbench. Meanwhile, Senator Carr's move to remain on the ALP frontbench and defy plans by the National Left to dump him from the shadow ministry has further complicated the reshuffle. When the full Labor caucus meets on Friday, Senator Carr - backed by MPs Gavin Marshall, Maria Vamvakinou, Lisa Chesters and possibly Lisa Singh - will put his hand up to claim a quota and an entitlement to a frontbench post. His new "progressive Left" faction grouping looks set to be established, supporters of Senator Carr said, in defiance of the push led by Anthony Albanese, Ms Plibersek, Jenny Macklin, Mark Butler and Catherine King to boot Senator Carr from the 14-person Labor Left shadow ministry. The Right has claimed the other 16 spots in the 30-member shadow ministry. If Senator Carr's push is successful, the Victorian-based "progressive Left" faction - which has significant support from a number of state unions - would claim one of the 14 frontbench spots due to go to the National Left. Labor leader Bill Shorten has indicated his preference is for Senator Carr to remain in his shadow ministry, and the formal split means the opposition leader and the national Right faction grouping will, effectively, have to deal with two Left groupings. A source close to Mr Shorten said that Senator Carr, an ally of the Labor leader, looked likely to remain on the frontbench because of the Left split. A member of the National Left warned, however, that if the split went ahead and Senator Carr stayed on the frontbench, Mr Shorten could in turn face trouble in the months ahead. http://www.theage.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/headaches-for-bill-shorten-as-labor-left-splits-nsw-right-rumbles-over-frontbench-20160721-gqay7q.html |

Who knows. Might as well wait to see what the ministry is.
On the other hand, we already see dissension in the coalition ranks on super changes... |

Oh my Goodness, the 2 "Politically Correct" guardians of Leftyism come scurrying out to protect their beloved hero Shorty.
The fact is the ALP is disintegrating even as we speak as the Left and the Right draw swords and face each other as they prepare to do battle. And little Shorty is there busily moving deck chairs around oblivious to all. Will the ALP split into two factions ? Whatever must the corrupt Commo unions think about all this going on between their brown nosing union puppets promoted beyond their ability ? Australia can certainly heave a gigantic sigh of relief that these squabbling union hoodlums did not get in. |

Wonder who Juliar is referring to? And is Juliar denying that the libs are the ones who are in dissension? Or is it a case of yet another willful ignorance?
As for lab - I prefer to actually see what ministry is rather than the hearsays and comment from that. |

Title: Re: Even as Shorty moves deck chairs Labor crumbles Post by juliar on Jul 22nd, 2016 at 12:46pm
poor stunned is playing dumb.
Stunned won you should learn the standard Lefty technique. When a lefty hasn't got a clue or is lost for words the standard response is:- 1. Strenuously deny everything even if you dunno what you are denying 2. Parrot some, any lying Lefty propaganda as "justification". Impresses the listening Lefties no end. But back to the chase. LABOR is in turmoil as fighting factions square up. Labor Party’s bad blood still flowing freely GRAHAM RICHARDSON Political columnist Sydney The Australian12:00AM July 22, 2016 Those lucky and determined victors in ballots for party leadership in government or opposition experience real elation in the immediate aftermath of their success. They never realise that winning the first ballot is only the beginning of a much longer and more difficult struggle. Recent history only demonstrates how hard it has become to hang on to the leader’s job. Over the past decade or so when Labor was in opposition we went from Kim Beazley to Mark Latham, then back to Beazley and then on to Kevin Rudd. In government, the Labor caucus managed to ditch two sitting and elected prime ministers in Rudd and Julia Gillard. There is a viciousness in the contest in government that is practically never matched in opposition. The Rudd-Gillard contests have left bad blood in the Labor Party which will refuse to dissipate while its carriers are still alive. When Rudd had his second coming he was forced to backtrack from the stance he had taken a few years earlier. He could not bring himself to compromise on the new form of election for leader of the party so the rank and file kept their participation in the ballot and their part ownership of the winner. What did change was a return to the previous method of caucus election for the ministry or shadow ministry. Unlike the Liberals, Labor had no history of the PM simply nominating the frontbench. When Rudd insisted he could pick his own team, no one wanted to disagree with him for fear of being sacked. Falling foul of Rudd was as easy as it was common. As the Labor Party gets ready to exercise its right to elect the shadow ministry, it is remarkable how little has changed in the 22 years since my resignation from the Senate. On Wednesday night, senior people from the Right across Australia spent two hours on a conference call trying to decide on whether to give formal recognition to a new group arising from a split in the Left. Anthony Albanese has so comprehensively taken over the Left that he had organised for the veteran Left senator from Victoria, Kim Carr, to be dropped from the shadow ministry. Carr has responded by gathering the dividing forces still loyal to him and formed a new faction, to be called the Industrial Left. If the caucus formally recognises this new group then presumably Carr can eke out a few more years on the frontbench. The Right has taken the view that it has no choice but to extend to Carr’s team formal recognition. This will send Albo completely off his tree. He is unclear at this point how many MPs are in the new faction. If Brendan O’Connor joins him Carr could have eight or nine. When Albanese ran for party leader he did not get every Left vote in the caucus. Five or six of them ratted on him in grand style. They promised support and delivered treachery. The antipathy between Albanese and Carr is deep and permanent. Having organised Carr’s final demise only to see the Right effectively offer Carr a lifeline will mean a period of factional hostility. This is one bitter pill Albanese will refuse to swallow. Just where Bill Shorten stands on this is interesting as well. In the short term he has no great fear of Albanese. He performed brilliantly in the campaign to the point that many of us were wondering where this Bill Shorten had been hiding for the best part of the last three years. A gain of 14 seats and getting within a gossamer-like thread of forcing a hung parliament means his position as leader is unassailable. Carr and his mates voted for Shorten in the leadership contest and Shorten will have his eye to the future. He knows that if there is a series of poor polls in a year or two it will be back to the trenches. I would suspect that along with Stephen Conroy, whose Right faction in Victoria has been in a coalition with the Carr group to maintain control of the Victorian ALP, Shorten will pressure his mates in the Right to give Carr the green light. There are always difficulties when a new team is to be elected by the caucus. The disgruntled make their voices heard. Don Farrell, the leader of the South Australian Right, is to be denied a frontbench spot and he believes he had an iron-clad guarantee three years ago that if he returned to the Senate he would return to the frontbench as well. NSW MP Sharon Bird is set to be dumped — and there are too many in this category to nominate here but the gnashing of vanquished teeth is audible above the Canberra din. Read more ALP chaos in next message as there is a paywall. |

Labor mayhem continues
When Shorten knew his leadership was under constant threat he came up with a novel way to maintain a happy ship. He simply gave everyone a job. In a caucus that hovered around the 80 mark, he announced a frontbench of 46. There were more on Labor’s frontbench in the last parliament than there were on the backbench. When we see what the final number is on the opposition’s new frontbench we should be able to gauge the confidence level Shorten has on his capacity to retain his job. It should be obvious that bloated frontbenches on either side of the house are very, very expensive. Assistant ministers is the new term for parliamentary secretaries. It sounds like a promotion but the pay grade and the staff entitlements remain the same, which is just as well because there are way too many of them. I do not believe I can let the week go by without commenting on the Sonia Kruger saga. She has been belted from pillar to post for saying things about Muslims that I don’t agree with. Having heard and read some of the attacks on Kruger, I get increasingly disturbed at the attitude of our intellectual and political elites. Kruger is no evil conservative who set out to inflame the nation on a course of anti-Muslim rhetoric or worse. She voiced the views that up to a million and maybe more Australians have. We should all defend her right to do so. It may amaze us that Pauline Hanson got elected along with two or three of her soulmates, but hundreds of thousands of Australians voted for her and her views are more extreme than Kruger’s. It does no good to sneer at and abuse Kruger. Rather, all of us must acknowledge that terrorism today belongs to Islam and we must work with our own Muslim community to halt the radicalisation of their young. Kruger may be wrong but since when did Australia decide she had no right to be wrong? http://www.theaustralian.com.au/opinion/columnists/graham-richardson/labor-partys-bad-blood-still-flowing-freely/news-story/dbd33a9aee2faeaeb9dccc8ddd7bf2e7 A FEW COMMENTS about the swirling chaos and comedy as the brown nosers snot each other. William 1 HOUR AGO I agree, the Industrial Left are clearly in fantasyland. Nicholas 2 HOURS AGO In the ALP, the factions must have their say and put forward their candidates for shadow ministry positions. This clearly indicates that not necessarily the best person is placed in the most suitable job. The overall result is total mediocrity - union hacks struggling to come to terms with a position in which they have no background or experience.; And this is purported to be the government -in-waiting ? Terrance 2 HOURS AGO Another thing were totally over, reflected by the primary vote, is the labor parties loss of focus around who it represents...who it should be representing and who it should be distancing itself from. The nemesis of the " faceless men " that killed the party for so many years has been allowed to re-surface. Your article reflects that...power plays between factions, unions, caucus et al ad nauseum. It raises the question, as it did before....WHO AND WHAT IS THE LABOR PARTY ???? Garry 1 HOUR AGO @Terrance The Labor Party is the political arm of the Unions; that is it succinctly and accurately stated. They are owned by the Unions. MPs are selected by the Unions. Labor is funded by the Unions. Shorten and MPs take direction from the Unions. The Unions tell them what to say and when to say it. Shorten and MPs can be sacked by the Unions. Yes, the same Unions who came out so badly at the TURC. Same thing applies in Victoria - Andrews is a puppet of the Unions. At the TURC, it was proven in evidence that Shorten and the Union took cash handouts from employers rather than agree to grant pay and condition improvements for the workers. At both Clean Event and Chicquita Mushrooms. And they were just the ones that came up in evidence. But as the Royal Commissioner said, he just did a sampling exercise; there were undoubtedly many more of these under the table arrangements which were, of course, never disclosed to the workers who would have been dismayed to have been sold out by the Union who were supposed to be representing their interests. Forty pieces of silver - the parables continue. |

When a Lefty starts abusing you you know you are doing a good job stirring up the Lefties. Now poor Stunned won don't let me down.
Pandemonium rains in the corrupt Commo union controlled Labor Party as failed "leader" Shorty tries to separate the Commos from the rest. Shorty is stuffed trying to separate the wheat from the chaff as all he has to choose from is chaff, lots of brown nosing union puppets promoted to beyond their ability. Wonder if Shorty is gunna ditch the Gillard clone Plibersek ? Albo Sneezy seems to be in a bit of a panic. Thank GOD these moronick drongos did not get in. Albo refuses to comment on Carr's future AAP 6 hrs ago Anthony Albanese has refused to comment on the future of frontbench colleague Kim Carr. Senior Labor figure Anthony Albanese is refusing to confirm whether Left faction colleague Kim Carr will be returned to the frontbench. Most of the conveners of the Left have agreed to move Senator Carr from the frontbench to make way for NSW MP Linda Burney when Opposition Leader Bill Shorten meets with his caucus on Friday to finalise his 30-member shadow ministry. Mr Albanese told the Nine Network on Friday "some people will be elected, some people won't". "I'm putting myself forward - I'm not going to comment on colleagues. "That will be a judgment that their colleagues make." Members of the Victorian Socialist Left have passed a resolution in support of all of the sub-faction's frontbench positions, including that of Senator Carr. It's possible the sub-faction will seek to split from the Left if he is not reappointed, setting up a new grouping. Calwell MP Maria Vamvakinou, who is from the Socialist Left faction, has taken to Facebook in support of Senator Carr, insisting his strong support of higher education was vital to her electorate. The Left faction will put forward 14 names, up one on the previous term, while the Right will choose 15 and non-aligned ACT MP Andrew Leigh will get the final position. Mr Shorten will then allocate the portfolios and announce his refreshed team over the weekend. There are suggestions Catherine King, Penny Wong, Tony Burke, Kate Ellis, Jim Chalmers and Richard Marles could change portfolios. http://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/albo-refuses-to-comment-on-carrs-future/ar-BBuCJ7x |

Abuse? Hardly. Merely pointing out that your posts are really just rants and not worthy of being read by serious people. Juliar on the other hand, has consistently kept up the attack on the person and not the issue. That simply shows why Juliar's posts are, for most parts, automatically skipped over.

Now Now U "Politically Correct" Lefties stop fighting. Really U are just like the Labor Party!!!
In amongst the screams and shouts as the Laborites tear themselves to bits the Flop of the Year is slowly evolving. Carr's revvin' while Albo's fumin'. Bill Shorten keeps Kim Carr on frontbench in shadow ministry shuffle By political reporter Jane NormanUpdated 51 minutes ago PHOTO: Kim Carr blocked a push to dump him from the frontbench line up. (ABC News: Nick Haggarty) RELATED STORY: Kim Carr's frontbench future rests with Bill Shorten Opposition Leader Bill Shorten has expanded his shadow ministry to ensure Victorian senator Kim Carr remains on the frontbench, in a complicated deal that will see shadow assistant treasurer Andrew Leigh take a pay cut and Senator Sam Dastyari miss out on a pay rise. Key points: Only 30 of the 32 shadow ministry members will get a frontbencher's allowance Kim Carr has claimed one frontbench seat in his own right Sam Dastyari and Linda Burney among five MPs to be lifted to frontbench After factional meetings in Canberra, Mr Shorten told the Labor caucus he would increase his frontbench to 32 positions. Under parliamentary rules, only 30 of them will receive a frontbencher's allowance. The deal was brokered after the Left faction moved to dump Senator Carr from its frontbench line up, in favour of newly elected New South Wales MP Linda Burney. Senator Carr blocked the push by splintering off into a separate faction and, with the support of Victorian Socialist Left allies Gavin Marshall, Maria Vamnakinou and Lisa Chesters, claimed one frontbench seat in his own right. Under the compromise, Senator Dastyari will remain on a backbencher's salary, despite his promotion, while the unaligned Dr Leigh will move to a backbencher's salary, taking a pay cut of $40,000. Mr Shorten is hoping the deal will allow him to keep Senator Carr on side without infuriating senior members of the Left faction. Senator Dastyari and Ms Burney were among five MPs elevated to the front bench today, along with Ed Husic, Carol Brown and Claire O'Neill. The jockeying over portfolios has now begun, with Mr Shorten set to announce a sizeable reshuffle on Saturday. salad,
a slight correction, I did not write that as it was written by James Massola in the article:- Headaches for Bill Shorten as Labor Left splits, NSW Right rumbles over frontbench James Massola, Heath Aston, Richard Willingham July 21 2016 - 6:45PM Labor's National Left faction is set to formally split and shadow minister Kim Carr is ready to lead the creation of a new "progressive" Left faction based in Victoria. I refer to them as the "regressive" Lefties. One wonders just where they are supposed to be progressing to ? But it was very sharp of you to spot such an incongruence. Examples of Oxymorons (Oxymora) Oxymoron: a figure of speech by which a locution produces an incongruous, seemingly self-contradictory effect, as in “cruel kindness” or “to make haste slowly.” |
