Title: China's revolutionary solutions to urban transit Post by Squire on Jul 12th, 2016 at 4:37pm
While Australian innovation and science is in its death throes, China is evolving urban transport solutions. The Transit Elevated Bus is a solution to reducing the cost of transit systems below that of overhead and underground transit systems.
Is this China's new great leap? Where is Australia's innovation? Is a modernized version of the stump jump plough planned? https://youtu.be/bpiFJsWdCuY http://shanghaiist.com/2016/07/04/straddling_bus_starts_production.php Quote:

Having lived in Shanghai for 18 moths I can tell you they really have their rail system pretty well right. For a few Cents you can travel on clean, well maintained and ON TIME trains all over Shanghai.
The announcements are absolutely clear and easily understood, the moving signs are legible and in both English and Chinese. Each station is marked with color coded tracks to make it virtually impossible to get lost, even Gregory Pecary would have trouble stuffing it up. They recognized some time ago that traffic was going to be a problem, so they made elevated roads all over Shanghai. I can just imagine Australia trying that stunt, by the time they got through the NIMBYS, Abbo land rights, council regulations and the RMA imbecilic confuser, it would be 2090, and by then we would have hover cars and wouldn't need it. If the road was started, it would take the powers to be over 100 years to make the roads, Our RMA have not succeeded in making a simple highway from Sydney to Brisbane in the last 40 years, imagine if they had to do it and it wasn't just bulldozing trees and painting the ground black? Imagine if they had to actually engineer the roads? Forget it, it would never happen. RMA = Retard Movement in Australia |

While Chinas progress in public transport is impressive, it helps when there are no annoying hindrances like environmental impact studies, land requisition issues, OH+S, award wages etc.
