australias future is with asia.
we need to ramp up our economic ties and become the source of food, of good clean tourism, of financial services, of insurance services, of higher education.

This is where the value is.

In order to do this we have to start thinking like asians.

we need to become very aspirational, develop a strong work ethic , value education and hard work and family.
value building our businesses.

The labor party with its welfare mentality, its demanding union mentality , its borrowing mentality , its social justice hand wringing mentality and its leaning and cry baby mentality has no place to play in developing these opportunities. The asian business people would look at the labor party and shake their head in disbelief

Although many of us still cling to the idealistic view that we live in the land of the long weekend, Australians are among the hardest workers in the world.

Even with four weeks' annual leave, Australians are already the hardest-worked citizens in the Western world. We bear an average workload of 1855 hours a year - more than workers in the United States, Japan or anywhere in Europe

MELBOURNE — What comes to mind when you think of Australia?

A relaxed, laidback lifestyle? The laconic Crocodile Dundee character? A place of endless barbeques, where the sun’s always shining and the beach always beckoning?

Think again. Recent studies have shown that Australia is a nation of strivers, not skivers (that’s Aussie slang for “lazy”). They are among the most overworked people in the world, more at home behind a desk than catching a wave.

I see, amongst the hardest workers in the world you say.
this might explain chinese telecom moving all its call centre jobs to australia.

And i see that toyota are closing all their plants in japan and relocating to geelong becuase our unionised workforce is SOOOO hard working.

And Apple , microsoft and google are setting up a silicon valley technology hub in bathurst thanks to our elite, entrepreneurial, dynamic and aspirational workforce.

Don’t you just love it? Opposition Treasury spokesman Chris Bowen now tells us that Labor will help the government repair the budget if the government adopts Labor’s policies.

“The government, if they have the spirit of goodwill, will find partners with Labor in budget repair that’s fair, but what we don’t do is sell out our values and principles and things we’ve fought on consistently for three years.”

Actually you can and I do.  However, I reject the Tories' policies when it means that hard-working, Mums and Dad's from struggle street must pay to allow the Tories and their mates in the Big End of Town to live the high life while they can't pay the rent/can't pay their mortgage and can't afford to send their kids to school/university.

If Australia is to prosper, all Australia must pull together, not just the workers, while the Big End of town prospers and does nothing to earn that prosperity!   ::)
