Suck it lefties, you lost. How will you last the next three years of conservative rule, especially after the LNP resurrects the ABCC and unions sink to 10%?

Mandate shmandate...
Unless you get over 50% of the total vote don't even use the word.
As for Shorten and his idiocy about it in his speech...  suddenly the Coalition had a mandate...  well it was one Labor never honoured or accepted.  Seems to me Bill doesn't know lie from truth anymore.  If he ever did. ::)

How sweet the song!!!!   I don't see many "Leftard" tears, but I see a lot of foul smelling bum sweat on the Upper and Lower seats as the defeated Coalition MPS slowly trek to a meeting place in the desert

And, it's a terrible day for conservatives.

The Turnbull experiment failed miserably, and seats have been lost.

I don't like to gloat, so I'll just mention that before the election, I was discussing the possibility of a hung Parliament, with five to seven crossbenchers including Wilkie, Bandt, McGowan and Katter all being returned, a swing to Labor of 3%, the Greens getting 10% of the vote and the Greens being competitive in Batman.

And I was discussing most of this four months ago.

You can bask in my magnificence ... now.

I don't agree with either side on this.
So far it is more likely that the Coalition will form a majority government than Labor.  We will just have to wait and see.
As for the Senate, the changes have made a change and at the next election the change will be more marked.  I don't see this Senate more fractured and harder to deal with than the last.  But we will have to wait and see what the final count reveals.
I suggest everyone just sit back and wait and see.

According to Casssiday on Insiders this morning that as of end of counting last night the coalition have dropped became to 70 seats Labor have 67 the Greens 1 and 4 to "others" with 8 in doubt and Labor ahead in 6 of those. If Labor stay ahead the coalition can not even form a minority government. I'd have thought you'd be happy about that given you claimed you wouldn't vote for them. ::)

otherwise we'll end up like Greece.

The worst prospect for voters now is a trio of political horrors: a hung parliament, an unworkable Senate, and the dumping of another prime minister.

If he does limp back to power, Turnbull faces the prospect of having to put Abbott into his ministry if he wants to repel an internal Liberal rebellion.

And a wounded Turnbull Administration would also have to deal with outspoken cross bench members, including up to three senators from the Nick Xenophon team - broadcaster Derryn Hinch, Pauline Hanson and another Hanson candidate.

The uncertainty will continue until Tuesday at least and might not be resolved until one million postal votes are opened.

Counting from Saturday's election has been suspended for two days with neither the Coalition nor Labor knowing whether the two-month campaign has produced a majority government.

Labor has taken at least 12 extra seats and while another dozen are in doubt it is unlikely it will get enough to govern.

But triumphant Labor leader Bill Shorten, his own leadership cemented by his campaign performance, has warned Turnbull his mandate has been smashed and the Opposition will harass on all fronts.

Shorten pointed to one certainty: "One thing is for sure: The Labor Party is back."

The ALP has a remarkable swag of seats: Patterson, Macarthur, Macquarie, Lindsay, Eden-Monaro, Dobell in NSW; Braddon, Bass, Lyons in Tasmania; Solomon in the Northern Territory; Herbert, Longman in Queensland; the new seat of Burt in Western Australia.

The pause in counting is expected to be filled by growing Liberal criticism of Turnbull, particularly from backers of Abbott.

    The man should resign

ISLAM

One Nation describes Islam as a "totalitarian political system" masquerading as a religion and is calling for an "inquiry or Royal Commission to determine if Islam is a religion or political ideology".

Islam, it says, "does not believe in democracy" and "is proving to be seditious against every nation and government on earth".

Banning the burqa and niqab in public, banning Halal certification, stopping Muslim immigration and installing surveillance cameras in mosques are just some of One Nation's proposals.

It also wants a ban on any new mosques being built until the inquiry is held, would "investigate welfare payments paid to Muslims who may be in multiple marriages, having multiple children", and would forbid the swearing in of Muslim MPs under the Koran.

"Australia is now seeing big changes in the suburbs which are predominately Muslim," One Nation's policy platform states.
