Title: UK leaving EU
Post by gandalf on Jun 24th, 2016 at 1:00pm
Well poll results are coming in, and while still early, it looks like a shock win for the leave camp. As usual in Britain, the polls have been horribly wrong.

Where to for the UK from here? Politically, the first order of business will be the resignation of Cameron (whether forced or voluntary). I expect that to happen within days. Also the torries may very well split after this.

What about the economy? Well first Britain has to actually exit first - this is just a referendum to guage "the people's" opinion. But one would assume negotations for an actual exit will follow shortly. And then? UK will have to negotiate new trade deals I guess. I wouldn't be surprised actually if the negotations with the EU that follow will make for such a watered-down "Brexit" - that not a lot will really change. Its likely that things like travel and immigration arrangements won't be a lot different.

Also, pound has already seen its largest drop since 2008.

"A victory for ordinary, decent people!" Nigel Farage, just now.

The political elites, the Eurocrats, the money manipulators and other parasites are all shitting themselves. Listening to the media they are mostly distraught by the result, already predicting doom and gloom economically.

Too soon to tell Gandalf.

Anyway, even if the vote goes Leave, Plan B sees legal manouvres by Brussels to negate the vote.

Wow. You really think Cameron will go?

I agree that there will be a watered down Brexit, but this decision will probably take other countries out - especially Denmark, who only joined the EC to trade with Britain.

In the end, Britain's departure will probably only prove symbolic for Britain, but this symbolism will take others out of the EU too.

That's right. Because as we all know, the EU can overrule sovereign laws and legal rulings, popular elections, and now, popular referenda.

The EU will just order Britain to stay in, ja?

Interestingy enough, upon entry, both Britain and Denmark negotiated an exemption agreement with the EU regarding retaining their own currencies.

No, Britain will keep its migration treaties. All those Poles and Romanians will stay. The sentiments the exit campaign honed in on will be proved null and void. Those Gypsies aren't going anywhere.

Alas, Aquascoot, Mother won't be returning to the 18th century any time soon.

So, are the "Nellies getting Nervous Again" OR do TPTB KNOW SOMETHING WE DON'T YET KNOW ABOUT THE BREXIT VOTE or is something else happening???

In any event, the DOW Futures are now DOWn around 320, having dropped some 270 points in the last 25-30 minutes!

Also, German & UK markets are Down some 6-7%!

So, THE "ROLLERCOASTER RIDE CONTINUES", for now!

UP - DOWN & all around!

It is just possible that the Rollercoaster may be coming from the BREXIT VOTE & TPTB trying to intervene?!

Voting, moments ago, according to the BBC, in Brexit is -
To Leave - 6,538,329
To Remain - 6,229,129
http://www.bbc.com/news/live/uk-politics-36570120

So, where are WE now?

Voting, in BREXIT moments ago, according to the BBC, in Brexit is -
To Leave - 10,539,289
To Remain - 10,066,155

http://www.bbc.com/news/live/uk-politics-36570120

DOW Futures currently - DOWn around 500 points.
German & UK Futures - down around 8-9%.
OZ ALL ORDS Down - around 150 points (3%)
Japan - Down around 500 points (3%)

Perhaps the Pollies, the CB's & TPTB MAY have something else to blame, for the Economic Collapse, besides the Real/underlying issues?

What are the ODDS, of a BIG spurt at the end, FOR THE REMAIN VOTE???

Possibly not!?

Voting, in BREXIT moments ago, according to the BBC, in Brexit is -
To Leave -  13,007,483
To Remain - 12,166,965

It seems nearly enough, to call the result, but maybe not just yet.

Britain doesn't have compulsory voting. The leave voters are currently the majority of those turning up at the polls.

It's looking like Brexit but only a bit over half the votes counted so far.
Having said that, if you look at the map, the undeclared areas are mostly Leave majority areas.

Still, can't wait for Plan B and maybe Plan C from Brussels.

Herb, keep up - its 95% counted, leave is over 1 million votes ahead - every news agency in UK has called it for leave. Its over.

It certainly is. My British passport is as good as useless now.

Who'd ever want to live in England?

God knows why. I'd stay in Ghana or Sri Lanka if it came to that.

I'd probably leave Pakistan.
See, even you agree. Sri Lanka isn't bad. There's obviously no excuse  for them coming out here on asylum boats then.

I'd stay with Mother rather than live in Syria too.

The Brits did not remind him of anything, as you asserted.

He was ignored.  He is irrelevant to the issue which was a British one.  Just like a Brit PM would be in the USA.

And assuming that the Brits did, in fact, ignore him -- which is simply your unsubstantiated position that I grant only for the sake of argument -- the result is the same as if the Brits deliberately sent him a message:

Obama is reminded that nobody takes his finger-wagging lectures seriously anymore.

Bexit although can be concerning when it comes to international security.  It is possible that after this, countries like Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, and even France may be exiting as well.   These are medium sized ecnomies that is not doing too badly.   And then you have countries like Greece, Spain that are not doing well at all, and requires cash injections.   And of course, the Eastern European blocks who wanted to resist the advancement of Russia, and deep in trouble with the Syrian refugee crisis.

When these occurs, if Germany suffers a down turn, then the entire European block may just fall like domino.  The Eastern European countries will once again be swayed back to Russian sphere of influence, since they feel abandoned by their European allies.  Whilst the Western European countries will be suspicious of each other.   And this spells very uncertain times ahead.

I think gold is once again back in favour, as the pound falls.  But this could be a prelude to the demise of EU, and hence Euro.  Gold at $2000 again anyone?

IMHO, the importance of Trump's recent visit to Britain should not be underestimated. He may have well galvanised enough public opinion to tip the balance.

He supported the British exit from the EU some time back.

He was derided at the time, but his support, as opposed to both Obama's and Shillary's commentary, hits a high note for all those in favour of an emerging nationalism. Think Farage, Hanson, Johnstone, Trump.

Any country with an 'open borders' programme is now on the defensive, ourselves included.

Trump's talk of a wall against Mexican illegals is starting to resonate, just like our own 'stop the boats' policy. The same is true of a number of other EU members. The Nordic countries spring to mind - rape has become an issue as a result of increased, unmonitored immigration.

Of course, the EU will object to this abandonment because Britain remains an economic and trade powerhouse while ever it remains and when it leaves. All it needs to do is renegotiate some trade deals and business will resume as normal.

The power-brokers and their media empires will scream, of course, because the plebeians will be construed as beginning to break their chains.

The West, and hopefully Christendom, is on the rise.

The Left are left to suck lemons.

...is your unsubstantiated assumption and I guess you brought Obama into this because you are an anti Obama person looking for some reason, anyone will do, to have a dig at him.  That seems pretty clear.

Ummm ... what??

I guess you missed the fact that my Obama comment didn't materialize out of thin air, but in fact was a direct response to Bogarde73's comment: "I wonder how many Leave votes Obama was worth."

See that little boxed Bogarde quote at the top of my original post? Bingo!

So if you're feeling defensive about Obama criticism, I suggest you take that up with Bogarde.

And of course my comment was "unsubstantiated" -- it was a personal observation! That's evident by the fact that I prefaced it with the words "Looks like" as opposed to, say, "Here's what a Daily Telegraph poll revealed."

Clear now?

Went down to breakfast this morning.
All the European Country Controllers were there already.

Let's just say I was about as popular as a Nazi at a Bar Mitzvah today.
And they didn't even know how I voted!

The UK can't leave for another 2 years - why the instant panic?

This is something of a litmus test. The result says more than half the British don't like what is happening in Europe. EU leaders know the same numbers are probably true in Europe.

IMHO, the importance of Trump's recent visit to Britain should not be underestimated. He may have well galvanised enough public opinion to tip the balance.

He supported the British exit from the EU some time back.

Wasn't that amazing timing for Trump to have been in the UK on the day after the Brexit vote?

That's the EU's stupidity for trying to compel its members to accept tens of thousands of Middle East refugees. Nations should act in their own best interests, not put their own culture and security at risk so the globalist elites can have cheap labor.

Britain's or, (more accurately), England's exit from the EU shouldn't come as that much of a surprise.

England has been 'Euro-sceptic' for hundreds of years...

Inside every Englishman (and English woman!) there is a Henry V sticking it to France, or a Henry VIII telling the Pope where he can shove his 'supreme authority' or an Elizabeth I flipping the bird to Spain and Catholic Europe.

Breitbart:

Needless to say, leftists are quite mad. They’re now calling for old people to be stopped from voting, simply because they wanted to protect the youngsters from having to dress in hijabs. Twitter hasn’t been this upset since that gorilla got shot. France, of course, has been mad for a while: even before the vote to send the migrants from The Jungle to us if we decided to leave. Why? Are migrants bad? I mean if unlimited immigration is fine then that’s hardly a punishment, is it, France?

Then there’s Scotland. For the second time in two years, our grumpy, ungrateful ginger cousins in the north are threatening to leave us. Scotland … famed for sucking up English tax money and for producing angry left-wing comedians and whiskey that’s even worse than Ireland’s.

I’m not sure many of us will be too upset to lose these ferocious European champions. I mean, there’s a reason the Emperor Hadrian anticipated Trump by about two thousand years.

'In last week’s Brexit vote results, there was a tremendous divide between age groups. 73% of voters under the age of 25 voted to remain in the EU, while about 58% over the age of 45 voted to leave.

This generational gap is among the many parallels between Brexit and climate change. A 2014 poll found that 74% of Americans under the age of 30 support government policies to cut carbon pollution, as compared to just 58% of respondents over the age of 40, and 52% over the age of 65.
Inter-generational theft

The problem is of course that younger generations will have to live with the consequences of the decisions we make today for much longer than older generations. Older generations in developed countries prospered as a result of the burning of fossil fuels for seemingly cheap energy. '

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/climate-consensus-97-per-cent/2016/jun/27/the-inter-generational-theft-of-brexit-and-climate-change

From Dana Nutticelli.

'26/6: Social media is passing round a stat that only 36 per cent of 18-24 year olds voted. Given that this age group was the most likely to vote Remain, this would imply that if turnout had matched that of higher age groups, Remain coudld have triumphed.'

Why the leftists want a new vote.
