The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union will be holding a rally on Tuesday, 21 June 2016 to condemn the NSW Government's budget, specifically their failure to support manufacturing jobs.

The Rally will be held at 2:30pm at the Eastern End of Martin Place, Sydney.

The Rally for Jobs is part of the AMWU's Build Them Here Campaign, which calls on the state government to purchase NSW-made infrastructure such as train, buses and ferries as well as mandating the use of Australian steel.

I would encourage all affiliates to urge their member to support this rally on Tuesday 21st June.

Yours faithully,

Mark Morey
Secretary, Unions NSW

This is hilarious. It's a rally about manufacturing industry job losses, so what does the Union do? Get people to take the day off from their jobs to attend a rally. Some smart cookies at the AMWU - not!  ;D ;D ;D

If there are no jobs - what's wrong with taking the day off?

Taking a half day off work is hardly losing one's job.

You really are quite mad, aren't you?

kinda closing the door after the horse has bolted....ho hum

they make me laugh they have driven most of our manufacturing off shore thanks to their aggressive demands..and now its STEEL .. what steel is that the steel mfg  shorten is backing down in SA?.. ::) ::) ::)

what about Newcastle and Port Kembla...when their steel mfg went out the door... funny how they didnt mind then..

seem to me the Unions should stop and think more of the end result in their selective push and shove...

and as we see the selective thinking on here doesnt change either..

a half day off doesnt mean a thing.. ho hum...

It's too late dahhhling Mark. Your hero Paul Keating wanted to export our smokestack industries and base our economy on financial services and tourism. Good move Paul.
