You'd rather watch a few dozen muscly men in tight shorts instead, hey?

Each to their own.

It's the best game in the world.

FYI, if you follow AFL then you will refer to people thus,

1, Bananabenders = Queenslanders

2. Cockroaches = New South Welsh men

3. Crow Eaters = South Australians

4. Jam eaters = Tasmanians

5. Gum suckers = Victorians

6. Sandgropers = West Australians

I can really understand league, all I know is they have five goes trying for a touch down, then the other team gets the ball and repeats.

Too slow for me.

I've seen the storm play a couple of times here in Melbourne, 95% of the time is boring for me.

The only time I enjoyed it a bit is when they are close to a try.

Melbourne Storm? Very much respected here.

A force to be reckoned with.

You've grown up in a part of Australia seeing AFL everywhere.

I grew up in another part of Australia, where NRL was played everywhere.

I remember going with my Dad to watch a game live. It was a Canterbury Bulldogs game. I was 4 yrs old. We won...and Dad bought me a BIG ice cream and held me up high on his shoulders.

Yeah....some great childhood memories there thanks to rugby league  :)

Well I really suffered when I was working in Brisbane and Sydney, a few years ago now.

The AFL was on at like 1:00pm, and the AFL footy show abouts the same.

Sacrilegious I'tellsya..... :'(

I'd agree with that.

At least you don't have the bogan fans yelling *carn ump in your ears every five minutes.

*(Bogan translation: come on umpire.)

Oh, I dunno - in the one Ladies NRL game I watched, this tall blonde winger did some very fancy footwork to score twice... fabulous stuff... if an NRL First Grader did it he'd be a national hero..... and a walk-up for Test selection.

Boganish is a language I find difficult to understand. OzPolitics has however, helped me learn quite a bit of Boganish. :P

It happened at a couple of matches I went to.

There were these um ... people (?) behind me who would literally yell out "caaaaarn ump" every five minutes.

The fans at AFL matches are just another breed.

The worst crowd is the one that cheers instead of clapping one of your injured players of the ground and that mainly comes from interstate sides.

They are getting better these days though.

That was good to see rather than the usual jeering.

I suspect that was because he was shown the door rather than leaving.

Had a friend that lived right across the road from Subi Oval on Roberts Rd. Noise was noticeable:) We could also walk in near the back toilets that were at the Roberts Rd side backing onto the park.
