Title: So they're not going to bulldoze them yet Post by bogarde73 on Jun 10th, 2016 at 1:24pm
The houses at Collaroy are on a stay of execution.
Maybe they're just going to wait for them to fall over. If they don't fall over, who's going to pay for the structural engineering to secure them AND for the (pointless?) seawall that Wendy Harmer doesn't want? Not us I hope, because I'm pretty sure no insurance company will pay for it. |

its a mess isnt it... can the coucil afford to lose all the rates they charge for ocean views... thats what it comes down too..
they can pack up that part of the cliff.. and it should be fine..... until the next bad storm.... we all understand that.. the council gave permission to build .. in fact they insist on it.. they also have council engineers telling the builders the pipes have been installed correctly or incorrectly... they would have also given permission for that enormous pool.... people do not build on these cliff edges without consent..and guess what the council reaps the benefit when they do... if the council says pull em down.. then they are admitting it plain aint safe.....and they are in big bother... as it is I am not sure i would move back in.. no matter how many sandbags |

The council doesn't get any extra rates for their views. State govt would pickup land tax if the property is rented and of course the stamp duty when they are bought/sold. I reckon about now would be a good time for the state govt to pay land value for the properties and return it to foreshore parkland and try to remediate the area. |

Yes, I agree with you on that one. Even if they can be saved for now, these houses are an accident waiting to happen. I don't know why anyone would want to live in one of them. |
