two locals looking forward to some "fresh meat" “after having their credit cards stolen in Bali and their travel savings drained from their accounts, Lina and Stephanie have arrived in Perth looking for work”. “As a travel experience, I don’t give Coolgardie any stars,” says Steph, one of the main characters in this doc about a pair of Finnish backpackers working as barmaids in remote Australia. a real-life backpacker horror story that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xhE9KTsfHI |

What? You mean Coolgardie doesn't have strip clubs, gay bars, nightclubs?

I have never been there but a quick Google indicated that almost the entire population of Coolgardie was probably in the pub.
Why would they go to work there to recoup their losses? The mind boggles. |

I've driven through (past) it dozens of times, but hardly ever stopped there. Like I say: it's practically a ghost town. |

I've heard of people getting money fraudulently taken from their credit card but it always gets returned.
I'm not saying they weren't treated badly but something sounds sus. |

Our rural towns have plenty of backpackers. Picking fruit and serving beer mainly. It must be easier to find unskilled work than in the city.
