The son of Melbourne crime figure Frank Madafferi is one of two men under police guard, suspected of being involved in a home invasion in Kings Park.

Johnny Madaferri, 25, and his alleged accomplice are currently in a stable condition in The Royal Melbourne Hospital with upper body injuries.

The pair allegedly confronted a resident at a home in Kings Park about 6.40am this morning demanding to be let in.




The resident refused and was allegedly punched in the face.

Detectives say four people were inside the home at the time. One grabbed an iron bar, striking Mr Madafferi and another man over the head.

Another managed to briefly pin on of the intruders to the ground before they fled the scene.

Investigators are not sure if this is a case of mistaken identity and have not revealed a motive for Mr Madafferi or his alleged accomplice.

Paramedics were called to Mr Madafferi's girlfriend's home later in the morning when he and his alleged accomplice were taken to hospital.

Charges have not yet been laid.

This case looks suspiciously like a set-up. The fortuitously handy iron bar and the four mates present plus the purported home invaders were badly injured.
