HE bodies of two men have been found inside cars swept up in floodwaters in separate incidents in NSW while a third body was found near Canberra.

Emergency services were called to Leppington in Sydney’s southwest on Sunday evening after reports a white ute entering a causeway had been washed away.

Police and State Emergency Service workers searched the flood-ravaged area into the night without success, before finding the man’s body inside his vehicle early on Monday morning.

Police divers retrieved the man’s body at about 11.30am on Monday and efforts were underway to winch his ute from Rileys Creek


whatever is the matter with people driving vehicles  into flood water....they had warning all weekend hope dangerous it is.. yet they keep on doing it..

I trust that anyone that needed the SES to tow them out get a nice hefty fine.....

Sometimes, when driving in rural area, a wall of water can come crash in a second.   Its very unpredictable.  Or the driver may have children or wife or husband that he/she need to get to, and there is no other way.   When under stress, people can make irrational choices.

Like when you are 200 km from nowhere, at night, dirt roads, and have to cross a flowing creek bed because the road is washed out. Done that. The principle of crossing the creek bed was that it was rocky under the water whereas the road was mud under the water, which was deeper than the wider creek bed.

Or another lucky incident hitting a flooded road section skidding from 80 km at night and car konking out. Fortunately it could be restarted and I could back out and turn around.
