Title: Bullshit! ...
Post by Lord Herbert on Jun 1st, 2016 at 6:40pm
If these three girls were Negroes or Pacific Islanders they would have got a standing ovation from the judges.

They simply weren't the colour Simon Cowell was looking for to fill his quota of coloured performers for his next show.

Lordy, you're off your face, those girls were about as interesting as a loaf of Wonderbread. And if they were "Negroes," they would be dead because that word went out of use back when women's pants still had the zip in the side.

Sorry Herbert but a standing ovation?  Seriously?

They would have received a 'no' from me too I'm afraid.  They just didn't have it.

They were terrible.

I think Herbie might be pulling our legs.

The worst thing is, I now have that horrible video in my youtube history.

I think you may be right.

I take it you need to be logged into YouTube to have it show a history?  Probably lucky that I have long forgotten all my details there.

Yes.

When you're logged into youtube (or google or gmail), it keeps a history of what you've viewed and makes suggestions for other videos you might like.

I'll have to delete my history now.

Or not log in?  I hate the invasion when I get suggestions for things that I 'may' like to look at and generally won't look at them on principle.  If I go to Ebay I get bombarded with Ebay sales on FB.  It irritates me no end.

Negroes and Pacific Islanders. Any sort of coloured folk.

The idea is that raw talent is given a "Yes!" - and then they go into a training session with one of the judges.

Their individual voices and harmonies are given a 'tune-up'... the song is picked for them ... their choreography ... their clothing - ALL of these are chosen and shaped into a future performance designed by 'the coach' - which is one of the judges (or someone else). That's the usual format.

I heard a nice little vibrato in their voices - which is the hallmark of having real potential. Not flat, not plain.

They sang with no accompaniment - and before a bored, cynical, and hostile Simon Cowell even before they had opened their mouths.

Listen to today's 'pop stars' ... any faults in their voices are hidden behind a cacophony of yelling and hyperactivity on stage by the singers and dancers who are there to distract from the fact that few of these so-called 'pop-stars'  have any real talent.

They can't be called 'Blacks' nowadays when we have so many Indian and Pakistani immigrants living with us.

Well, in singing anyway.

If you want a graphic example of the sort of idiots who judge these singing shows - then this is it.

Four 'professional' singers with international reputations, and yet only one of them recognises this young fellow has a voice that puts most of today's pop singers to shame.

Dear Lord, I grant you that one has to keep up with just what minorities want to call themselves. Watch "indiginous" become a put down and go out of fashion, but "Negro?" That word has a historical context, and it is not now.

Okay, Issue - I'll do a little research on the latest trend. I remember a few years back it was an open joke how the fashion for using the terms 'blacks' and 'Negroes' came in and out of vogue, so that for a five year period or so it was okay to say 'Negroes' but not 'Blacks', and then it would switch back to 'Blacks' and not 'Negroes'.

The current trend is African-Americans and whatever else. We need Marla to fill out the dots here.

But I like Wonderbread.

I make little smurfs and things by rolling Wonderbread into a sort of Play-Doh and then paint them and dry them on the window-sill ...    8-)
