Title: Liberals pushing USA high cost education model Post by Laugh till you cry on May 22nd, 2016 at 12:30pm
Money is being stripped out of education at a time when the quality of education is being questioned. The government is pushing education towards the USA high cost model by causing student fees to replace government money.
The same system in the USA is causing huge debt which burdens graduates for decades. The only people benefiting from the education fee system are the educators and administrators because the fees and their growth rates are unregulated and grow much faster than inflation. https://redflag.org.au/node/5270 Quote:

Do you know what the actual cost of the two systems is? Or is "high cost" just your way of complaining about who pays and how?

The amount slashed is $1.4 billion over 3 years in growing lumps while more people are being educated. Its great for education administrators because the process is unregulated meaning they can charge what the market will bear. The government could be deliberately reducing demand for education by increasing its price. New Zealand is less than half the price of Australia and even Switzerland is much cheaper. Australia also has a low ranking in quality of university education than other industrialized countries. https://www.timeshighereducation.com/student/news/india-russia-and-eastern-europe-are-cheapest-places-study-ranked-university Quote:

So the model you described as "high cost" is actually cheaper? Is that what you are trying to avoid saying?

All good, there are plenty of Southern Asia students completing degrees through our system. They'll no doubt be able to fill any skills void in the future.
The liberals are wanting to dumb us down, which has always been their plan. It's all focussed on big business and the sooner we realise this the sooner they'll know their tricks won't work but I'm guessing that if Libs get back in it will all be too late. Non-skilled citizens means they can call on migrants to reduce Australian wages but who for? Big business. The country was built on a fair go and this fair go is all but lost under this mob. Our children are going to be cleaners and fruit pickers without opportunity to advance. Tertiary degrees will only be for the snobs born with silver spoons in their mouth. If you are not in the elitist class, why the hell would you vote liberals. |

Not for domestic students. The figures published earlier are for full fee paying foreign students. Currently domestic student fees are AU$0-6,152 to AU$0-10,266 per annum: http://www.topuniversities.com/student-info/student-finance/how-much-does-it-cost-study-australia Quote:

The Libs prefer high priced user pays education because it allows dumb rich Liberal voting kids to go into higher education in preference to smart poor and probably Labor voting young people.
