Title: Turnbull's past as Lawyer/Businessman haunts him Post by red baron on May 13th, 2016 at 8:39am
Cracks are appearing in Malcolm's campaign. Now his past as a Lawyer to wealthy companies is coming for him. 'The Panama Papers' must have him cringing.
You see...this is the quintessential Malcolm Turnbull. His C.V. is as a Lawyer and a Businessman. In both professions you take no prisoners. Malcolm just isn't capable of getting his head around what his Budget will do to Aged Care, Education, Hospitals, Doctors, Superannuees and most of the flotsam and jetsam that the mainstream of people have to deal with every day. He is far above that, he is in the five star jet, with the five star lifestyle and it is hard if not impossible to think on a level; of how gut wrenchingly hard it is for every day Australians to make it through week after week and deal with all the financial nightmares that haunt us. He is a nice bloke Malcolm but he just doesn't get it. |

You can hear Lucy's balls clanging when she walks behind him operating the strings. Old Malcolm is without doubt pussy-whipped......

All Malcolm has to do is flash that film star smile and the ladies swoon.

I remember the book "Spy Catcher coming out in the late 70s. It was banned from sale in Australia at the request of Britain but I managed to acquire a copy. I found it an absolutely riveting read into the world of international espionage. I was also surprised to read that Malcolm Turnbull had defended the writer in court cases and was successful. So I take my hat off to his expertise as a Lawyer - that would have been a very difficult case

Not at all. Most of the events occurred when I was a young teenager so whilst I knew of the names etc, I never really had a deep understanding of what actually happened. I remember the Profumo affair hitting the news but also never really fully understood what it was all about. Books like his helped put some form of context on it. I still have the book somewhere. |

Malcolm's career as a lawyer, entrepreneur & merchant banker admirably qualify him for his job as PM.
Refer to the Books thread for a note on the recent biography. |

Which part of 'lawyer, entrepreneur and merchant banker' qualifies him for PM and how? As a lawyer he will be highly skilled and schooled in the certainty that truth is a malleable concept and that Law can and often is abused as nothing more than another avenue of abuse against specified groups etc within society, as well as a highway to power, and is thus 'a continuation of (civil) war by other means'. As an entrepreneur, he may like to take a chance, or even get in on the ground floor of some sweet deal organised by his mates.... but is that really the kind of thing we want or need in government of the people, by the people and for the people? As a merchant banker, he may well be capable of shuffling other people's money around for his own benefit and for the benefit of the inside circle.... but again - is that really what is wanted, needed or remotely applicable to governing a country on behalf of its people? I think not... I'll pass on Mr Smug, thanks, very much. |

Yep, saw her on Sky News this morning. Really shoved the Knife into him. She even mentioned how appalled people will be if they bring back WORKCHOICES MARK 2 next session. Maybe Mal should slip her one after Tony has, that would be a real WORKCHOICE |

Yes it must be awful to be able to look back over such a brilliant career as you give up counting your billions as there are just too many of them.

Turnbull's career could only be a fearful image to those who are driven by envy of anyone who propels himself from relatively humble origins to a position of well-earned wealth and success.
