They still do: http://www.morgancars.com.au/

The Morgan Plus Four is still in production.

Morgan have even reintroduced their famous three wheeler - a modernised design of a car they produced before World War II:

Went to calder in the early 80's to watch the Waltzing Matilda (WM) (jet engine on a tow truck) race against The big boss (TBB) (another tow truck) from the USA.

When the WM started her engine she nearly blew the people at her backside of the hill, but that's about all she did, didn't get very far, the big boss blew her away.

Jet engines don't belong on the road.

I really miss this one - it was a 1975 ZG Fairlane 500 with a 351 Cleveland and all the options.

Was wandering around Cairns in 1997 while on holiday, and spotted it in a car-yard. Upon inspection, it
proved to be a one-owner car in very good condition with all documentation and paperwork. It came with
a complete list of everything that had ever been replaced, and the mileages these occurred.

It had belonged to a bloke who bought it new in Victoria with his retirement-package, then he and his wife
had done the 'grey nomad' bit then settled in cairns. She'd passed on, and eventually they took his licence
due to age, hence the car being on the market.

The dealer allowed us to leave our car (an XE Falcon) at the dealership, and take the Fairy overnight for
a test-drive. And yes, it drove as good as it looked.

Can't remember now whether we paid $2500 or $3500 for it, but we bought it. Paid cash, and had it
shipped home on a car-carrier, it arrived about 10 days later.

Had it for around 18 months then, as is often the case when you have young kids, needed money so sold
it, and have regretted doing so ever since.

Sadly, I have no pics, they went astray in a house-move, but it was IDENTICAL to the one shown, same
colour paint and vinyl roof, but with a sun-roof. And it had twin driving-lights and 'foggies'.

One car I REALLY wish I'd hung onto.

I have a Skoda Octavia, which is a cheaper version of the same thing.  I know someone who used to have an Audi A3 and, from what he told me, Audis cost a lot more for servicing and parts than Skodas or VWs do, although he cut his costs by using VW parts when he needed anything for it.

Ahhhh....I see.

One of our neighbour's girls came home today with her new Audi A3.

She's 25 yrs old, and she's driving a new 2016 Audi A3 which cost her 45K.

Anyway, she excitedly told me it's got a 1.6 litre turbo engine yadda yadda yadda but by God it looked "plain".

Ohh well.... ::)

You have a Skoda Octavia?

BRB....need to see what they look like.

I work on medical research equipment built in different companies and have researched cars and 4X4s for years.

My experience is german stuff is overrated.
It's delicate and must be operated exactly as the manufacturer says.
they are arrogant about what they build and accept no criticism.

japanese stuff is excellent.

American stuff is pretty good.

And it's very economical.  Around Sydney, I usually get somewhere between 5.4 and 6.4L/100km.  On my last trip to Canberra, it returned 4.9 (and that included a fair bit of driving around Canberra as well as there and back).  The best figure I have seen so far was 3.3 on a run from Mount Victoria to Penrith (all downhill of course) although by the time I got home, the figure was 4.9.  I find it a very pleasant car to drive too.  Here it is, at rest outside a cafe in Bilpin:

My previous car was a 1990 Mitsubishi Magna, which I had from new and kept for almost 25 years and 200,000km and was the most reliable car I have had (although hopefully the Skoda will equal or better that).  I would have considered buying another Mitsubishi, but I wanted something slightly larger than a Lancer, and Mitsubishi don't make anything like the Magna or 380 any more.

Hyundais are definitely worth considering unless you're a "badge snob" - there still is a perception in some quarters that they're cheap and nasty, although these days they're not.  The same is true of KIA (I'm pretty sure the two companies are related) although, to my eyes the styling of the KIAs is rather clumsy and unattractive.

The Coaster is looking better the more I research it.

Lots of them around, so repairs and spares are viable.

They have toyota reliability and driveability.
You are not towing anything.
Truck tyres, so fewer punctures.
