Not I. The best I've done is some homebrew beers and ginger beers.
Where do you even buy a still? Given whiskey usually needs to sit for years to mature would it even be worth it?
Maybe a better option to try Vodka or Gin?

No

When living in Kuwait I fermented wine.....using smuggled in brewers yeast.

The white was awful but the red was drinkable and I let it ferment until the yeast died for maximum punch.

It did the job.

I don't imagine you would want to get sprung doing that there.

No, not a good thing but not as harsh as Saudi. Everyone was doing it.

Someone got hold of medical flash, 100% pure ethanol... 1/3 coke, 1/3 water, 1/3 Ethanol. Tasteless.

Some would have essence of scotch or bourbon, 1/2 flash, 1/2 water and a 100% proof scotch in 1 second.

I bought my set up from a little old lady.  She and her husband used to make whiskey together but he passed away.

You can age some and drink the rest?   ;)

if you put your spirits into a smaller barrel, it will age within months due to more of the whiskey etc touching the side of the barrel. ...

the Stills don't have barrels.... you buy "aging" barrels to age your spirits and to put taste into it..

and yes... I think its illegal to brew your own spirits..

say what??  :o

they can get stuffed as far as I'm concerned...  >:(

so you make your own ???..

I was thinking the inconvenience of having to have barrels for the home brew.....they take up a lot of space....I guess its one drink that wont ever end up in  a plastic bottle thank god.

The barrels are quite small and not really necessary.  It's no different to cooking insofar as it is satisfying to create something of quality from scratch and then sit down and enjoy it when in the mood    :)
