That is because he thinks he is above the law, definitely not remorseful and contemptous that anyone dared put him behind bars.

If he is innocent, as he claims.... he has a right and total obligation to himself to protest his innocence in every way...

Oh, I see.  If Plod reckons they have enough evidence, we all should just hand it over to them to finalise....no Trial....straight to Sir Bobby's Gallows.  Sounds like a great system to me.  Saves all sorts of money and time.
