Title: Cutting Spending V Cutting Investment
Post by Greens_Win on Feb 9th, 2016 at 2:15pm
Most conservatives, concerning their created budget emergency, are saying we must not increase revenue, we must cut spending.

Could conservatives clear this up for me ~  what's the difference between cutting spending and cutting investments?

Thanks in advance.

Why Conservatives?

Are you suggesting that non-conservatives are economically illiterate?

My thread, I get to asked the questions.
If you don't want to discuss your differentiating between spending and investment, then don't post.

If conservative posters don't know the difference between attacking spending and attacking investments, then please, don't make a fool of yourself.

So conservatives think welfare is spending, and not an investment.
We are making progress.

All welfare?

Spending is only an investment if it has a positive return on capital. Otherwise, it is a divestment.

You will find that the statement "Must not increase revenue" means not removing any further funds from the tax payer. Revenue increases sponsored by GDP growth and productivity gains would be fair game.

Yes.

Conservative cuts, like the one waged against the CSIRO where based on conservative ideology. and not economics.

Eliminating waste and improving efficiency makes good economics sense which is why it conforms with conservative ideology yes.

Inducing an ideological caused recession isn't eliminating waste, or improving efficiency.

Only if they were producing added value to the capital outlay. If not, it was just a hole in the ground.

They don't know the first thing about innovation or investment.

I'm not sure why they are called conservatives either - what are they conserving?

They want to go back to "the good old days", have no new ideas and think privatising everything is the answer.

Conservative ~ as in opposing the one certainty in life ... change.

Conservatism is another word for Fear.
