Friends of three Australian men convicted of raping a backpacker in Croatia have defended them online, with one calling their victim a “sl-t”.

Dylan Djohan, 23, Ashwin Kumar, 23, and Waleed Latif, 21 returned to Melbourne last week after pleading guilty to the gang rape and paying their Norwegian victim $30,000 in compensation.

The compensation meant the trio were allowed to avoid jail time, a situation which has caused widespread outrage among victim advocacy groups in Croatia and Australia.




But friends have been quick to show their support for the men, who are part of an amateur bodybuilding community.

A friend’s post on Facebook described the men as “the 3 best blokes and most genuine people you would ever meet!” the Herald Sun reports.
