Phillips’ intervention was criticized Tuesday by the head of Islamophobia watchdog Tell Mama. Fiyaz Mughal told the Times newspaper: “It assumes that Muslims [as a whole] have views that are inherently different to other communities and that the ‘world view’ of Muslims is different to other communities.” He said that differences between Muslims and non-Muslims are negligible, bar some religious rituals. “There are Muslims fully integrated into our society that have a ‘world view’ that is no different to others and the only difference is that they pray five times a day,” Mughal said.

The thing I just don't understand is there are plenty of other countries to source people from with a much higher chance of integrating.

No they didn't.  The 'wogs' went to normal local schools, they mixed with their peers, they worked hard and considered themselves Australians.  They came here for a better life and put an effort in to adjusting.

Disrespectful to demand Muslims adapt

The commission got this one wrong.

Anyone coming to Australia is expected to adapt, that is not unreasonable.

Anyone who does not want to adapt that is ok too just don't come to Australia.

The vast majority of people coming to Australia adapt just fine, no doubt it can be difficult but time and the next generations takes care of a lot of it sufficiently.

Adapting really does not mean a lot more than getting along with the rest of us, it is necessary.
