camping up in the Grampians over the past weekend I met an Aboriginal who was working for the forestry people..

we were talking about the area and that of the fires that have gone through the area in recent years.. we talked about the recovery of the area..

but one thing that struck me was his mention of the winter colours coming of the cliffs of the area..

this is something that most people don't see of seem to care about as they huddle in front of their fires during winter in the comfort of their homes..

but I like getting up to the Grampians during the winter.. to see the lush greens on the contrasts of the deep purples of the rock faced cliffs..

like this man, we see the same beauty of the area and that of Australia.. it was great talking with him :)

I find the aboriginal arguement of 'attachment to the land" quite compelling.
We must remember that many farming families have attachment to a piece of dirt going back further then most of those inhabiting redfern.
Native title needs to recognise white farmers as custodians of the land and i hope we can be recognised in the constitution and perhaps mentioned in parliament and acknowledged on any new flag (maybe a Massey Ferguson tractor to replace the union jack )

truth is  Laugh, ive been to Halls Creek, wuurabinda and a heap of other aboriginal settlements.
The aborigine talks about his deep connection and love of the land.
You can see evidence of what he thinks of the land as you drive into Hall Creek.  kilometres of trash, plastic bags , dirty disposable nappies and other garbage littered all over this "land" he has a deep connection with.
