He also pledged to help close the gender pay gap.

“I can’t explain why there is a gender pay gap,” he said.

“In this country between men and women across all professions of 17.8 per cent and worse in many of the professions that we are all proud to be part of.

“That needs to end.”

'gender pay gap'?  Rosie's 'fighting for something?  When you fight for something you are positing a need to defeat an enemy and casualties will result.... anyone worked that out yet?  Not remotely a recipe for any win-win situation - but definitely one for lose-lose.

Women in the forces are equal - when they are judged on ability and not on gender.  The acid test is combat. They either shape up or ship out, and his stance is one of hot air.  Good way to get ahead, though.  He also needs to distance himself from the paradigm of DV being about 'man perpetrator - woman victim'.

I heard the colonel yesterday on radio saying how comfortable she was with her gender assignment etc... still sounded like a man.  When I saw the TV show on ABC and saw 'her' running - I thought the article was going to be about some heroic woman officer who broke her back but came back... nothing like a woman running.

My next door neighbour is a retired woman Army officer.... she's good value.

The 'wage gap' (noW translated to income gap due to factual figures that neatly dovetail average hours worked by women with the alleged % 'gap' - SEE MY PAST POSTINGS) is a total non-event.  When women work as many hours as men, they will EARN as much on percentages.

I think he cravenly side-stepped the realities of this issue.  Any faith I may have entertained in him as an officer and a gentleman and head of the Army has vanished.  Such a person must be absolutely above reproach in any way - and craven behaviour and 'spinning' an issue is not the mark of such a one.

Would you follow such a man through the door?  (no - he'd ensure you'd go first and ten tell you you need to treat women as equals... you pig...)...

They get equal pay - trouble is they only work 78% of the hours men do and therefore only EARN 78% of what men do..... simple really.  They get equal access to super - depends how much they put in.... in fact, they get BETTER access to super overall than men since women comprise 70% of public servants and teachers etc - all with a sweet super and perks and easy work...... and this 70% was achieved by Affirmative Action - i.e. Discrimination writ large.... and all to give them a sweet ride while imagining they were 'working' for a living, as some form of 'compensation' for being kept women at home for generations after they were elevated from being factory hands.....

What those very simple figures mean is that men and women are on roughly the same hourly rate - i.e. WAGE rate.. overall.... so where is there any cause for complaint?
