Title: Who do you use for web hosting.
Post by Redneck on Jan 24th, 2016 at 12:00pm
I am thinking of firing up a web site or two and wonder who people recommend?

I have used Hostgator in the past it is $13.95/month USD atm (after we ignore the 50% off first month BS) which is a bit expensive for a hobby site I think.

I realise you can get those free ones where they allocate you the domain name as an extension of their site but you cant use your own existing domains

Ideas?

Register the URL separately. $5 or $10 per month should do for a startup. Beware the new little players. They often go out of business or decide to focus on some other core business, which can be a hassle. They all seem to give adequate support.

CP Hosting:

http://www.cphosting.com/

They have been around for 20 years. Cheap and haven't let me down in the 15 years I've been using them. They claim 99.9% uptime. In practice, they are much better than that. You can get a package tailored to your bandwidth requirements.

They also do reseller hosting if want to get into hosting.

I use them for domain registration too. Less hassle that way.

Thanks guys,

I got sick of waiting for replies (I realise you did reply quickly but I wanted to get on with it) and ended up totally confused on looking up those recommended on Whirlpool Forums, so went back to Hostgator for the moment on a monthly pay as you go.
